I have seen some SMG knobs that are carbon fiber. You can send your knob into a carbon fiber specialist shop that can overlay your knob and clear coat it to give a nice aftermarket finish. These guys do really nice work, oCarbon - carbon fiber products

Check out the carbon fiber that was done on this M3.

I agree with Paul also on the shifters, Stock ones look much better and I haven't seen a nice aftermarket set yet.

A little OT, but I emailed these guys today, super quick response directly from the owner. He quoted me ~$800 to do all my trim, center radio trim, and steering wheel. They specialize in Audi's but said they can definitely do E60 trim. The pics on thier website look great.

They did work on a E60 already. I was going to get this done but don't have time to remove the trim. They do great work. Maybe ask them if they will do a group buy and maybe get a heavy discount. They also do all sorts of carbon fiber designs.
