turn light

I own 2008 M5 and is currently out of warranty. Within the past few weeks malfunction notice has come on for the reverse light as well as back turn signal light on the passenger side. I dont want to take it to a dealer as they will charge arm and a leg to replace the bulb. Is this simple to replace? Can you buy the bulb from the dealer? I also noticed on the display that the right turn signal blink very rapidly when I signal. Are there more issues than just replacing a bulb? Thanks for your advice.

These instructions should show you how to access the rear light from the trunk: DIY LCI taillight retrofit - 5 Series Forums

Once you get access, first try cleaning your bulb/socket contacts to see if it just a bad connection.

If that doesn't work, identify the part number for the bulb you need from realoem.com and buy it from getbmwparts.com (or your local dealer at likely a higher price)

The fast blink would be associated with a resistance issue, which hopefully should be solved once you change the bulb(s) that are out.

Please report back what your ultimate resolution is for the benefit of others.

thanks.
