Valentine, the directional arrows are very helpful. It outsmarts cops when they are trying to be sneaky. I had one that said forward and as I passed him it switched to side etc, and then the front arrow went off again and sure enough there was another hiding out, I would have thought it was just picking up the other radar so it was great! I have had Escorts also and really can you go wrong with either one? I have a K-40 built in on my car (came with it) and the V-1(borrowed from neighbor to test on a long road trip) gave me so much earlier warning and less false alarms that I bought one right away.

I just bought a V1 yesterday. Waiting for it to arrive today. I will definitely update on my opinion. Lots of friends recommended it so I went with it. Anyone have a hardwire link for V1?

I have used the V1 for a few years now and love it. The arrows are very useful as knowing if the cop is behind (not as worrisome)or knowing he's in front is a huge benefit, as well as the number of cops ahead/behind. I've gone through the Grapevine once where the detector went off showing multiple threats ahead. I figured it was just one and was falsely claiming multiples, but sure enough passed one and a little piece ahead another one was sitting there. Unfortunately, for laser they do nothing. I think V1 has an update that might minimize the false road traffic alerts (which are annoying).

I have a hard wired V-1. Love it...always surprised of how much advanced warning I get. FYI though, if you have it hard wired, don't forget to turn it off when you shut down the car...easy way to run down the battery...ask me how I know

Hardwiring the detector to the sunroof power lines seems to be the optimal place (if mounting on front windshield), as it's switched so it shuts off when the car is shut off.

I installed the 9500ci a couple of years ago, love the stealth of it, never have to worry about it getting stolen! I really like the GPS lockout feature. The unit is dead silent unless there is a real reason that it is going off. Range is much better than the cheapo Cobra I was using, no surprise. The laser shifters only have been shot at twice, and both times I saw the LEO first and slowed down, so I can't comment on their performance.

I recently was following somebody using a 9500, and my V1 went off a good ways before his. only one example, but was impressed.
