Navigation Disk

I got the 2012 DVD navigation disk but the I drive says " please insert dvd navigation disk"

Why is it not reading the disk or loading the disk? Any special procedure to this?

The older disk works fine.

I suggest you take it back where you bought it from - it should just read it without issues. When I upped mine it immediately said "new navigation disk inserted, leave the system off for five minutes" or something like that. Booted up and worked perfect when I turned it back on the next day.

UPDATE:

I took it back to the dealer where I bought this disk from and told them simply "i-drive will not read the disk but reads my old one."

The disk they gave me initially was part #(65-90-2-241-695). He looked up the part number again for the 2012 I-Drive disk for a 2007 M5 and the first disk they gave me was the wrong one. The new disk's part number is #(65-90-2-241-717). I put the new disk in the I-Drive and it read it immediately.

Also before my Real time traffic information (RTTI) would not work. I read on 5series.net that if you don't have a nav disk which is 2006+ the Real time traffic information (RTTI) will not work and finally it works for me with the new disk. My old disk was a 2005 disk. Another thing to check before you buy your used BMW I guess, check what year your nav disk is.

Thanks for the help!

The 2012 Navigation DVD was 199.00, for me it was worth getting the new disk to have RTTI (real time traffic information) to work finally. Thus far for the L.A County area is has been accurate with RTTI. I also noticed the navigation is more precise now, before it was kinda retarded. It would be nice if BMW sold the disks as region 1 or region 2 instead of paying an extra $100 for another region I may never use. Maybe I should sell the region 1 disk, mmm.
