I'm not hugely mechanical but I agree with Jim. I would disassemble the pump (there are in instructions on that bearing replacement DIY) and inspect the internal components and if no scoring you could try to sell it. But I guess the market doesn't seem too good for used pumps.

Side note to Jim. I still can't PM but emailed you regarding rod bearing replacement but got no reply. Might want to check your spam folder. Thanks.

I have 112k mi on my car now, and I am worried about this VANOS pump. I am going to try to get to the dealer for the official test. Do you still have any used pumps left?


Did you rebuild the gear, and if so, is that all that needs to be done? I should probably save my old pump once it is changed out.
