I just realized what a great idea this was so I'm having it patented. Anyone copying this design will be sued.

ok 2 more options. whats the 2 openings on the lower bottom of the car used for? i know in the m6 it channels air to the engine but maybe its not needed or can be used together some how. other option is to move the cones to the exterior and kinda like snorkels lol. actually i might have come up with an easier idea just get rid of the hood. you'll save some weight and cool the engine down. win/win

If I remember the bottom two openings are for the brakes to keep them cool. Not sure about the snorkel idea lol.

Haha just do what they do with computers. Liquid cool the entire engine bay and then there wouldn't be any heat. The problem is we just dont have a lot of room to work with. If you want to get creative just liquid cool the headers and everything. All the heat from them is just rising and going into your intakes. Speaking of intakes, maybe we could move the intakes some where else????

You could probably do it pretty cheap. I have even seen people liquid cool machine guns. Just take some copper tubing and wrap the headers with with and run the coolant through the copper wires.

Computers just use an actual block that sits on the device you are cooling and runs cooled liquid with it.

You would be amazed at how efficent liquid can cool things versus air. I have an over clocked computer and it sits at room temps at full load. When it was air cooled it was well over 90 degrees C at full load.

Air cooling is much more efficient than air-water-air. Water cooling is just used as a medium to move the heat from one point to another and then to air. There's barriers and latent heat problems so heat soak becomes an issues as Eloy has found while waiting to run. The reason the mother board chip set cooling works is because you use a much bigger radiator where there is room/space and there's a lot less heat energy kilo-Jules to deal with. This doesn't work in a car more energy, less space etc. That's why an air-to-air intercoolers are so much better, air-water-air charge cooling is just for packaging reasons.

Moving or isolating the air filters away from heat will make a big difference to performance.

Yeah you are right, too early to think about that, haha.

The beauty of the M5 is you can hold more passengers. Just get a seperate AC unit and have these passengers power it for you so there is no drag on the engine Just shoot all that cold air right into the intakes, haha.

Interesting, let me know. Would it help to vent the hood at all to get rid of some of the heat?
