under carriage issue

Well I was driving my m5 yesterday on the freeway when all of a sudden i started hearing this low deep continuous sound from the car. I thought I had blown a tire. I stopped and found a chunk of plastic under my right front wheel. Eventually it turned out that the right ?hinge of the plastic under carriage right behind the front fender had given way and now the front of the car looks like the pics provided.

Any thoughts on estimate of repair and how quickly I should be getting it done? car is beyond MF warranty but I did by an extended warranty that is still in effect.

These things usually do not fall down on their own, someone did not put all the fasteners back in or maybe a curb stop?

That sucks. Did you hit something for it to break off or did it just come off? My opinion though is that it seems more of an insurance type claim than a warranty.

If you're looking to repair it right away, check with Performance Technic. They're located in Pleasanton and are quite skilled at handling BMW's.

Not aware of hitting anything. Was already on the freeway for about 10 minutes when I started hearing the noise. Good point about ins claim though. I will take it to a local body shop that I have used and see what they say.

Whatever happened I hate hearing the sound when I drive at speeds >50mph. I dont know why it would break off like that..Hope it is not a harbinger of things to come.

This has happened to me 4 times already. The dealer refuses to replace it and always recommends fastening it back on, but it comes loose and falls off! I hate it! Makes me wanna yank it off permanently.

So why does it keep falling off Ahmed?? Bad fastner design?

I would buy some different fastners if the stockers do not work.
