Mine is a 2/06 build, I have owned it for 10 months and it has 35K miles. I find excuses to go out just to drive my beast. No major issues on the service records and so far I have performed all requied maintenance myself. I have no warranty and Im not worried about anything. Im a mechanic and have worked on many cars but never on BMW's. So far I have liked working on it.

Excellent thread idea!

Mine is a 10/06 build I purchased in June of this year with 39K miles on it. I'm now up to 45K in just a short time period with a couple of outstanding road trips in there. Absolutely love the car.

What a good idea lopealle!

Using this board for problems and issues is all too common and I agree there is not enough praise.

For me the M5 is my daily commuting and family transport vehicle and use it for the function in hand. But once you have it on the road and you floor the throttle it is impossible not to grin as the beast comes alive. This, for me, negates any issues I have had with this car so far.

So theres the solution - m5boarders : if you have had a problem or issue with your car do not run to the laptop/tapatalk/mobile and vent on a new thread - take the beast for a drive down a quiet road and floor it and only then come back to writing that thread and see if you feel the same way!

For me again, I have had a few problems but looking back they were nothing more than what I had with my previous cars...it just costs more. Its on 115000 miles and can see another 50k out of the car easily

I Love My M5lovelove

Still going strong - 113K miles here!

My 06 is a 10/05 build and I have had it since new. It just rolled over 113K miles on the clock and I've enjoyed every mile. No major problems - replaced the clutch at about 105K. Very solid and going strong. :applause:

Sorry to be the rain cloud on everyone's parade, but your post depresses me. Mine is an Feb 06 build and I've got 71K miles, and I've had a MILLION problems with it. If you haven't seen my last thread, my latest problem is that I had to have my WHOLE freakin S85 engine replaced!! I'm really depressed that your car is an earlier build date than mine and you have WAY more miles than me, yet you've only replaced the clutch once. I've replaced my clutch and flywheel's twice! I haven't driven my car as hard as many many M5 owners that I know. I'm just cursed. :(

These quotes are a breath of fresh air....mine is late 05 build inter lagos blue...Just drove from lubbock Tx..to Fla..with Mamma beside me beckoning me to blip the throttle another time... about 700 lbs of various items in the trunk and back seat full tank of gas and two passengers with grins on their face...The beast performed effortlessly!!.I bought mine and immediately repleaces every conceivable issue that we could think of ...including a new Full Eisermann race exhaust DINAN stage 2 tune ..etc..etc..etc...
You are not a Geahead until you have experienced a s85 v10 motor up front!!!! After all you on live once ...

01/06 build date with 61k miles. I purchased with 52k miles and I love everything about my beast. Had a failed steering column sensor and some squeaky active side bolsters. Other than that, there has only been standard maintenance in this first year of ownership. Like some of the earlier posts, I will manufacture reasons to take her out for a spin. "Need some coffee cream? I'll go get it now for you honey!" :haha:

Mine is an '06 too and I've always loved it. But my love has really been put to test with a couple large repair bills. (One for SMG pump).

I swore I was going to sell my M5 as soon as I got it fixed -- but -- after getting her fixed and driving her, I've fallen in Love all over again.

Are there any support groups out there that can help?

Mine is an 06 and I bought her in October of 2010 with 61K on the clock. She has about 67K on her now (not my daily driver) and I love every minute in the car. No issue as of yet but I do have a warranty.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
As a side note, I have owned several high-performance Germany cars and have had to shell out lots of money for expensive repairs. As the prices come down on cars like these people are quick to purchase them but you have to remember there are up-keep costs. You can buy some Ferraris these days for less than $30K but the maintenance will kill you!<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I had a 2001 911 before my M5 that had 2nd gear go and the coolant reservoir. I also have an 01 Audi S4 that needed an entire transmission rebuild which when all said and done with a new clutch and fly wheel cost me $10K. I have just faced the fact that if I want to own cars like these there WILL be costs involved for service.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I love my M5 and have to say it is one of the best cars I have every owned.<o:p></o:p>

Awesome thread, glad to hear more positive things about the E60 M5 generation.

I have a 2/07 build, 60,000 miles right now and loving every mile of it. I plan to keep the car for at least another 3-5 years and I usually get tired of my cars after a year or so but I'm still enjoying the S85 Motor and the SMG. The SMG really adds the passion to the drive. I am still on the original clutch (knock on wood). Had to replace steering wheel trim (peeling), stuck paddle shifter, & that is about it. The most reliable german car I have owned (knock on wood).

Day 1 of my 06! I am not sure of the build date but i will check.. All I can say is how did i never consider one of these sooner!! What a combination of luxury and raw power! The car is an absolute brutal animal in P500s!! I feel like a 12yr old with this thing(i'm 35) lol... I cant wait to further explore the SMG and the capabilities of the car. So far it's putting a huge grin on my face!!!

Another update, i did the transmission and rear diff fluid change this weekend along with engine oil. What a difference in shifting and drivinf experience. Drives much smoother. Shifting you can barely feel it. The was also starting to jerk. No more of that either. Eat your hearts out 08+ owners lol. Although i envy the lci upgrades. Anyways people. Post up your good driving experinces.

Deaon
I also have an 06 and am loving it. I had to get a just start yesterday so Im thinking I need a new battery. Ive had a couple of slow cranks in the last few weeks so I guess its time. Other then that Ive had zero problems. Im thinking I should change the tranny and diff fluids also. What type/brand of fluid did you use?

Thanks
Mike
