I just attempted this on my car just now. It got to 100% then the blue bar starts over and at 4% the cars power cuts off and I get a ECU communication error. Now my car has a transmission fault "car can go into gear without depressing brake" drive moderately have checked at dealer asap.

I haven't started the car yet. What should I do? I tried flashing twice same thing happened . Should I try starting my car and driving it?

Sorry to hear. What year is your M5? It sounds like you bricked your SMG module. Contact Vodyk and send him your module so he can reflash it for you again.

nope not bricked I can still drive the car. when its bricked you can't even start the car lol.

anyway I got the flash to complete!

set my latency to 1ms and hooked up a running car as a power source and the flash took without a hitch!

third time is a charm the car drives soo smooth and the first launch witht he new launch control was epic haha

If anyone in NY needs or wants to be flashed let me know I'm on Long Island. (2006-2007's definitely not positive on if a K+DCAN cable works on 2008's and up.

One more question! Before I bring my car to get the clutch replaced since thats going to be soon should I flash back to the US SMG ? or should this not affect the clutch change?

Depends on how cool your service advisor is, lol! But seriously, that's the truth. Your S.A. will discern whether or not to make BMW aware of what may or may not have caused a problem on your car. If your S.A. is usually a dick or uncool towards you, I'd say put the U.S. version back. If you have a good rapport with him/her, then I wouldn't worry about having the Euro spec SMG installed.

Personally, I have a super-cool service advisor...and service manager, actually...who both insisted I take them out and show off my Euro spec SMG after I told them about it!

This is b/c you were probably cool with them first and weren't some high horse riding BMW M5 driving jerk. Isn't that how the world works? Treat others how you want to be treated? Some people who drive or own certain cars, think they're entitled to something, and then wonder why they don't get good service.

What to do with a Dinan stroker car?

Is it possible to update the SMG software only on a Dinan stroker car? I think that the ECU is already tuned to match the stroker kit.

Skunkd,
I'm also on Long Island, where are you located? And are you still willing to flash my car for the Euro SMG? Have you done any other coding as well? I know John over at Motorcepts can do it for me, but was hoping you were closer than going in to Queens. Let me know, thanks!!
