Very interesting. What kind of failure did you experience with the original cable? Had it commenced the actual flashing?

Yes - I received the same error that you had, the access denied error message. I did not purchase the cable from Vodyk's recommended source (missed the link originally).

I've since flashed a few board members (2x2006 and one 2008) with the ICOM.

My job sends me down here for continuing education, and I personally love the engineering program down there so its a win/win. Now only if the football team would have a solid season without upsets I'd be a completely happy camper. Many of my friends actually relocated around greenville and love it down there. Way different from what I'm used to in NYC but different in a refreshing way to say the least... Hell I actually get to enjoy driving my M5 down there and not worry about major potholes or insane traffic.

I wonder if Vodyk had any luck as well, I think he got ICOM or something like it.

I did get an ICOM and would not recommend for any 08+ to do this with anything less. I have done several 08's with the ICOM and will have some of them post here.

Also I have seen the cable I posted fail and work on several cars. 06's seem to work with all cables and most 08's do not! I don't know what the break down is but can say an ICOM has not failed me yet and seems to come down to the cable. I have done my own car at less then 12v's and do have a power supply that will maintain 13+ but wanted to rule out that being the only issue. Low voltage can still fail a flash!

Sorry for this being a noob question.

I am looking at purchasing a M3 DCT or M5 SMG I love the m5 but here to many complaints about the SMG doing daily driving. Does this software fix the SMG clunky problem?

That's quite a bit of work...And, wouldnt the VIN of your car be somehow linked to the TCU? Or, does it not care?

I just got back my m5 back after a smg fluid flush. They also updated the entire car's software which has helped immensely with the shifting.

Now I'm hesitant to flash the tcu as I'm happy how it's shifting.

Has anyone tried this on a 2009? Mine has build date 10-2008. I am considering buying one of the ebay D-CAN cables to try it. Alternatively, anyone in the Washington, DC metro area (Bethesda, MD specifically) have the better programmer that is willing to code my car for me?
