Is there any way to find out what the current loaded software version is for the SMG?

EDIT: Got the update for INPA so I can run diagnostics now. I ran diags on the SMG module and it's listing software as 7842205 under identification. I don't see this listed on the first page of this post so either i'm reading this wrong or I have some odd software.

I believe 7842205 is the SMG hardware number. The software version currently running on that hardware is different. I don't remember where to find it, though. I think I saw it in Tools32 when doing a cpu status check maybe?

So yea - after spending $90 to ship them the WRONG freaking box, I'll be pulling the SMG computer tomorrow and shipping that, as well.

Awesome.
You pulled and shipped out the DME instead of the SMG Module?

You are not far off.. The SMG Module is in the same watertight box, right below the DME. If you look at the watertight box as split into three sections from top(1) to middle(2) to bottom(3), then put your DME bak into section 1, and pull out your SMG Module right below it, in section 2.

This is a photo of the watertight box, with the SMG Module pulled out.

That makes sense. I was able to find the version number installed on the module in INPA.

Updated my SMG software last night. Took about 30 seconds to complete. Car was running 7842208 and now is running 7842206. Car had a full software update by the dealer in June so I don't think they're locking anything out as others mentioned earlier. I did however use a battery charger and let it charge to 100% before starting.

Ok so guys. Car still shifting a million times smoother! The launch prepares to pet me launch at 4kish. But sometimes when I let go of the shifter. The car doesnt take off. The revs climb a little higher and just waits there. Nothing I can do until I let off of the gas. And let it take back off normally. Any idea? Thanks!

I just sent you an E-mail. How often does it happen and do you try it again, right after the first failure to launch? Mine has done that a couple of times with the U.S. spec software. On a side note to get rid of the speed limit do have to flash the ECU or is there a simpler way. Don't want to get an after market tune just would like to get rid of the speed limiter.

You could contact ESS and tell them you want the speed limiter removed. You buy the direct flash device so you don't have to ship out your DME/ECU. You don't pay the full amount because you are just getting a limiter delete. Give them a call and ask, they will help you no problem. If you want to raise your idle by 25rpm, 50rpm, 100rpm etc. that can be done also via the DF device from ESS.
