Hi Tony! I plan on heading up Wednesday just after LA morning rush hour, like around 10/11am. I should be at Dinan around 4pm or sooner, so I'm hoping they can shed some light on my issue. Thursday is complicated, and Friday we plan to go to Napa for the day. Early Saturday morning I have to meet up with someone here on the board in the Santa Clara area coz I'm getting their suspension set up for my E39 M5. Maybe we can meet up for breakfast with a few other guys before I head back home? Kind of like a "mini-meet".

So my current exhaust set up includes the RPI headers with a full Dinan exhaust, including the racing midpipes. Oh, and Dinan Stage 2 tune.

So lovin' the nastiness of the system, I'm like a menace everywhere I drive the E60. Just wicked!!!

After I got the RPI headers installed, everything ran fine with no check engine light whatsoever for a few months. Then out of the blue, the CEL came one with the message "Increased Emissions" on my iDrive screen. I'm assuming that I need to get another tune to properly work with my catless set up right? Also, I think my car is due for smog in February. I have no issue putting back the cat section of the headers and even putting back my stock section 1 & 2. But my question would be...will it wreak havoc on my car's systems if I put back all 4 cats while running a new tune meant for a catless set up? Coz for smogging, the CEL can't be on at all or else they'll fail me.

Has anyone encountered this situation before?

BTW, heading to SF for Thanksgiving and I usually stop at Dinan to do some xmas shopping. Those damned web banners showing they have a 15% off sale until Oct. 31 make me think that Gustav and/or the marketing guys at Dinan have a sick, masochistic and demented way of torturing me.
Good question as I know with the main cats the tune I have from ESS did not matter much but with all 4 on I have no idea...but like Tony said DINAN would know best. Another thing is with the handheld system you can always flash it back to stock if need be which is why I have been storing all my maps in case I need to go back to stock for a day.

Can I see a mini meet coming up

Oooh mini meet!! Would be cool to meet Jed since I have his old headers (turned into RPI headers) in my car. I'll have to see if I can get out of a few pre planned things this weekend. Also might not have my car back yet.

Yep, they are here. You guys needed better communication though cause the headers were packaged the worst I have ever seen. Also, you paid about $400 more than Mighty paid.

The tips get longer and extend out when the car is excited. To get the car excited, it.........the gas pedal........needs to be slammed hard to the ground.

BTW guys, headers are at the machine shop. After machining, they will come back to our warehouse for cutting, bending, welding, etc. You should have your headers in about 2-3 weeks.....maybe sooner.

Are you thinking breakfast on Sat morning after you meet that member or Sun? I'm only about 15 mins from Santa Clara. Where are you meeting him?

Once the headers are done is anyone else thinking about doing the Jet-Hot Coating??? I'm pretty sure that I want to get them Jet-Hot Coated to improve the performance of the headers. I was thinking that if a few of us do it, then maybe we can get a discount from them. Whaddya think guys??!

i dont see how jet coating would make the headers work better since its just exhaust coming out of them. is there a proven gain in jet coating them?

Ceramic coating will increase the exhaust gas velocity so yes, there will be a slight improvement. It also keeps underhood temperatures down. I had mine done too but wish I had gone with Jet Hot instead. The silver finish they offer looks awesome.

Something I found before I went ahead and did the process;

Ceramic coating significantly reduces the exhaust temps. It's all about thermal efficiency

Also overall under-hood temps. will drop so this will reduce the amount of heat being sucked into your engine intake *a secondary performance effect.

Lastly the coatings are extremely durable. Depending on the specific coating, the process used, and the type of part coated, coated parts can
experience added life spans of double to 10-times that of uncoated parts. In normal use, you can expect near lifetime protection from rust and corrosion on exhaust parts.
