I like the looks and the way they have integrated the fugly lines caused by the large trunk space but there is one problem. The thing looks just like a C-class. I mean, I like the C-class but shouldn't there be just a bit more variation then that?

one thing i can say about MB is that, they don't mess with a good thing. Their present Models are all very sexy, i like all of thier models, and when they redisign them, they keep it simple, and looking good, no gerastic changes to thier overal body structure, unlike Bangle that wants to "lead the Industry" with jacked-up designs...sigh, WHY BMW? WHY?!?!

They sure do disguise their cars...I thought that S is to be facelifted in Sept this year, is it actually going to be an all new model? W220s have been around for a short time though
The "real" pics are rather blatant Photoshop jobbies based on C class photos.

I like the front but the back ? Yukkkkk
Btw, I heard Mercedes will release the new S class in 03' or 04'. If this is true, then MB would break its tradition of going 7~8 years without a full shape change. I wonder if the new 7 has anything to do with it !

MB does a good job of changing the design completly and not making designs similar to their previous cars like porsche always does. But I heard this car was going to be out by 2004 so that's 7 years since the current S-class which was out since 98 so they are on the right track but so far MB have been creating hideous looking cars and getting more and more like BMW with their 7 and 5 series design. Look at the new E-class and tell me that is not a GS400 with an MB emblem because if you put both cars next to each other then you will see how similar the benz is to the lexus. It has always been that lexus wants to be more like benz especially with the LS but now its the opposite way around. The new E-class has the same front look as the GS and this pic of the new S-class HAS the GS Lexus' lights. I just hope this isnt the actual design of the car.
I also read that people who first saw the 7 series hated it because of the I-dirve and because of how complicated it was....but after a few people have driven it, more and more people liked it and those who said it was complicated actually loved the car | | |
