The work of the members of this board is starting to pay off (on the internet at least). Google search for "autobahn bmw texas" now has the number two listing as: AUTOBAHN BMW Fort Worth ragged my car and wrecked/totaled it on a test drive! - Yamaha Rhino Forum - Rhino Forums.net

I just spent 3 hours reading through all the posts, and tjav8b, I'm sorry to hear what you had to go through. If you haven't already, you should send Consumerist your story and see if they would run it. They are pretty good about picking up stories like this and they are well known and high profile.

Good luck and keep us updated on what happens next.

Jalopnik ran this at one point - they should update now, I think.

Also, I think Gustav needs to add this dealer to the Black List of Non-Appropriate Vendors. They certainly have failed to deliver adequate service to members of this board!

just came from a service appointment at my local dealer....and was chatting w/the SA(nice fellow/enthusiast)...and I mentioned test rides and the such...for what its worth.....he said he does not sign off on them...and there is only one tech who test drives the cars...that is how they avoid what happened in Texas!!!...he knew all about it!!...and he brought it up....
so this is in fact making its rounds...
G/L to the OP

I would be happy to see the dealership's official standpoint / side of story. They cant be completely silent?

Hey Guys,

I took my car in for an oil change at a BMW dealership in the Dallas area and spoke directly with the service manager. I asked him about their procedures regarding test drives. I asked him if he heard about the issue at Autobahn and he had but added that the details of the issue are skewed heavily. I assume he is getting this information from Autobahn, or an employee therein, and not first hand. So I think this adds another facet to the story which is that not only is the dealership not doing anything about this, they are spreading the word about "what really happened" (so to speak). In my eyes, it makes it worse.

I completely support the OP and hope this gets taken care of in a more than fair way. I can't believe the dealership hasn't put a self imposed gag order on this though.
