1bimmerguy: I dislike what one of you're own said to me, "perception is reality, whether it's right or wrong".
i said that.

however you are taking it out of context as i was merely explaining the situation as it is unfolding on this thread, as have other situations on the internet. Same goes for news broadcasts over t.v..

its a generic comment. Its a fact of life and happens all the time. sometimes its right, sometimes its wrong.

and you disliked that i said that?

ha, you even agreed w/ me!

I certainly can't argue with that. Once it's on the interwebs it is fact.
Even i can tell you were sarcastic in the 2nd sentence.

people form their opinions. and it is my opinion that the dealer is wrong in how they set the tone w/ the OP by not being forthright in how the incident occurred.

you clearly only pick and choose what you want to hear on this thread

i was polite, but now you've gone and pissed me off.

All the more reason to carefully consider what you post and how and where you post it.

I doubt the national media will consider this worthy of coverage. At its core all this is is a dealership that made a mistake and an unhappy customer. I feel pretty confident in saying customers' cars get wrecked everyday all across this country because of some boneheaded porter or tech. In reality except for here in the cyber world this is a non-issue.

This story hasn't even been picked in either the E60 or E60 ///M forums on Bimmerfest. The only reason I know about it is that someone posted the link in the E90 forum. In reality the mods at Bimmerfest should have moved the thread to General BMW by now. And the discussion, which is exponentially smaller over there, generally has a pretty different view than over here. It's why I'm a member of Bimmerfest.

You break something of mine, you fix it and/or compensate me to a satisfactory manner. That's all I have to say.

1bimmerguy: your posts are screaming yet pointless. There's a reason why there's such outrage & coverage about this.

A franchised dealership with this sorta fiasco is unacceptable. We're not talking about a used car dealer here.

How long do I get the chance to fix it before you take it away and give it to someone else to fix. If it's a really big item I hope you give me more than 24 hours.

You're right there is a reason there is so much outrage and coverage. However, I think we probably disagree on what that reason is.

Whoops. Correction. I misread the second sentence part - Yes, I was being sarcastic in the second sentence. But in the first one I was agreeing fully. And, in truth, my second sentence isn't far off the mark.

But, still I did not take it out of context. I used it in the exact same context you did.

It's really quite sad, don't you agree, that in this instant information age in which we live that the saying is true - Perception is Reality, whether it's right or wrong.

woah, stop the press! You admit the dealership made a mistake?

+1 agree with you.

do dealers make mistakes and accidents happen all the time as you pointed out?

+1 agree with you.

Where i don't agree w/ you is the manner in how this particular dealer initially handled it. A good example of how it should have been handled is what i posted a bit earlier.

making progress here to common ground...

That's what we don't agree on. I question the accuracy of the reporting. I've lived here for 16 years. I'm pretty familiar with this particular dealership.

No way...having the offending dealer do any of the repairs, even just the estimate, carries the appearance of conflict of interest. Even if there is no actual fraud involved, it would be impossible to not suspect the dealer of that conflict. Anybody with actual integrity would have stepped back and let another service team take over. The crash dealer definitely should be held responsible for paying for the fix/replacement. But, the crash dealer has already shown that their service department can't be trusted to monitor and discipline its own service personnel. And so cannot be implicitly trusted to handle the work in a professional, transparent way.

you might be right on the national coverage, but you never know ....

anyway, my prediction is that the OP will get a brand new car at the end, we have seen this movie before and the finale is always the same
