Oil level from 0.6L to min?

So I've read that our cars burn oil...I accept that. Wife's 335i did the same thing.

But has your car ever dropped from 0.6L to 0.0L min? I haven't driven my 06 M5 is about a week...was on vacation. It read 0.6L last week...drove to work today, and it eventually went down to 0.0L min. I don't mind adding oil, just wondering if this is a really big drop at one time. I don't see any oil puddles at work or home.

My concern is that it's not reading right, and I go and add more oil...then it's really overfull.

Just let me know if you've seen the oil drop this quickly.

Thanks.

I have found that in short drives, the oil level reading does not change much for me and then I take a long highway drive and will drop as did for you. The behaviour seems nomal, so no worries, just add when the car tells you to add. Buy a couple of the soft sided oil pouches and keep 2 liters in the car.

Thing is with short drives the system never has a chance to get you an accurate reading...check this out from the owners manual:

After starting engine the last determined value is displayed.

The determination of a new value can take 30min or longer.

So if you are going for drives under 30min...you could have a very stale reading. Then go for a long ride and bam, you are down half a liter.

The gauge displays an average of many measurements, and is slow to change.
I have never seen it count down... 1.0 0.9 0.8 0.7 0.6 0.5 0.4.0.3 0.2 0.1 0.0 :nono:
It always skips. I've seen 0.8 drop to 0.4, and 0.5 to 0.1

Your drop from 0.6 to 0.0 is larger than I've seen, but is likely not a problem.
You are at 0.0, so add a full liter. Do not expect the new level to be immediately displayed.
You may reset the oil level, but certain conditions must be met before a new measurement will be done.
If you do not reset the oil level, the new level might not appear for several hundred miles.

Yeah, I added 0.5L..figure worse case if it "really" is 0.6L...then maybe a little over. Let's see what that does in the next few days. Now, better question...what are good places to buy this oil? Seems like my driving style might be burning quicker then I like.

Also is the silver and gold quarts the same oil? I've seen both colors.

Tip same thing happened to me recently. Was at 0.5 then went to min oil.
