July 25th was the launch of the first BMW M dedicated dealership worldwide in Singapore -- showroom and workshop for M vehicles exclusively. Firstly the invite by one of the founding members of M Division, followed by the cars :flag:
wow! Beautiful, :trophy_bronze: but strange, very shocking and perhaps disappointing ...??????
If not in Germany, then why would this not first be introduced in the US as we make up a majority of the world's ///M sales each year and have perhaps kept M alive all these years??? :dunno:
Anyone have any idea of the number of annual M sales are attributed to Singapore?

The US is a lot larger than singapore though. There has to be enough M buyers concentrated within driving range of the dealer to make it feasible. Maybe in Sinapore that is possible? I have no idea, I have never been to Sinapore. Or maybe in other countries the profit margin on M cars is higher to make it more worthwhile?
You don't say. They have the HIGHEST taxes in the world.. (in my opinion).
I have been there many times...
An M5 over there would cost you WELL into 6 digits...Not including the licensing costs...which could set you back another 100K or so...
Check it out...cars are VERY controlled over there...and it ain't funny..
This is easily one of the best posts ever. Great information & you are very lucky to have gotten an invite. Kind of makes us all wonder why this was not started sooner. I agree with Gustav, that the capital of every state should have one of these. Kind of disappointed that I didn't see a single E39 M5 but that Nurburgring poster is amazing... !
This is probably because the car and road tax structure is geared towards keeping cars new. Refer to the above on the 130% tax on car value from factory and COE etc -- you get a % of it back if you export it out before the car is 10 years -- a built in 'cash for clunkers' incentive. And the road tax amount is based on engine capacity (e.g. the higher the capacity, the higher the road tax), and it is progressively higher for cars >10 years.
So the costs of keeping a classic 4.9L engine of the E39 M5 adds up pretty quickly !
"But why Singapore, of all places? Veronica Chua, the marketing manager of the store, said in a recent report on sgcarmart.com,
“We decided on this location because we want to differentiate ourselves from the mainstream locations that were filled with car showrooms. Moreover, we are not afraid of the lack of walk-in customers because we are confident that our top-of-the-line service will enhance consumers’ buying experience, leading to a positive word of mouth for the M Showroom.”"

Thats a cool idea! I hope they open more around the world once the new M models hit the market.
