Which phones are currently supported? I have the HTC Desire.

On a different note, I had a Blackberry Curve up until a month ago when I got the Desire. The Curve had excellent sound quality via Blutooth for handsfree talking when synched in my E60, but the handsfree sound quality is abolutely terrible with the Desire, to the point of it being almost impossible to hear the other party. From what I've read on various forums, others don't seem to have any voice quality issues doing handsfree CCC/CIC with a Desire.
The only list provided by BMW is here: www.bmw.com/bluetooth
When I checked it some time ago there was not much about the Internet support. The good thing is that the Combox software can be updated via the USB port by the user and new phones will be added in each software release.

Hi guys,

I did the upgrade today using the soldering clues provided on page 9.

The thing I struggled with the most, actually, was finding a way to get the USB cable routed into the glove compartment. I ended up going through a space that the glove compartment is hinged on. The soldering was a bit of a test as well, but everything worked out alright on that end. At this I've not yet installed the new iDrive controller, but I'm trying to squeeze that in tomorrow. The old controller right now scrolls either all the way up or all the way down so I can't really use the iDrive. Car runs fine though and climate controls are working like a charm.

Hi again,

Just finished my first remote coding session with Patryk. In just about an hour he got everything except sound working, which requires a bit more coding which we'll do later. The navigation now works as well meaning I've started the lengthy 2011 Europe navigation update process (3 DVDs and it takes about 3 hours).

I have to say, Patryk is a REAL pro. I'm a software developer myself and seeing the mouse and keyboard race across 5 different coding tools is a sight to behold :-) The man just became a father the other day and still he finds time to help - great respect!

On another note I got the new iDrive controller installed today with Patryk's special bezel. The installation went without a hitch using the excellent center console removal guide in this thread.

I couldn't say.. I'm no expert. He gets the job done though!

You can ask him directly though, he's here on the forum.

Ditto! Have sound working and I did the full map update today during a long drive as well. Everything works except a minor detail with the backlight on the CIC, which Patryk also has a fix for.. will fix that whenever I have time. For now I'm just going to enjoy a _much_ better iDrive experience.

I think I have that same issue with the backlight too. Patryk was kind enough to send me a fix, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I love the CIC, such a big improvement over the CCC. Thinking about upgrading my wife's X5 too.

Thank you Jesper for your kind words. I am sure your car feels much more up-to-date with the new CIC

It's not a critical problem, but worth fixing, cause at night it looks like there is something missing in your dashboard.
The X5 CIC retrofit is possible, but depending on the car spec might be more complicated. Just drop me an email if you need more details.

It's time for the Combox retrofit now
