That story made great reading - but so sad to hear about the experience. As long as you are happy with the way the deal turned it is all that counts. Enjoy the Beast! and hopefully no more faults.

I've sent you a PM. My email address is in the PM if you can't reply directly.

Terrible to hear that the guy turns up mob handed. I wonder who many times he has done that to other people?

I would make sure they service it AT a main dealer before taking your ID in. COst of an oil service is around £200-£250 at a dealer so it's not a big deal and it's real cheeky to leave it empty on hand over.

BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE.... Get the extended warranty from BMW Mondial UK. DO it right now! It will not come into effect until you've owned the car for 1 month but it is worth every single penny! If there are fault codes registered and you have issues later you will be wanting that warranty!

Please PM the name of the dealer and if it's the same one I can point you in the direction of people who have had similar experiences.

At this stage I would rather not name and shame in public on this board.

In any case, I would first advise speaking to the Citizens Advice Bureau and Trading Standards before you make further contact with the dealer.
I don't see anything wrong with naming a dealer you've had problems with. Actually I'd apreciate the heads up incase I come across them! As long as it is not slander! If you're not comfortable posting it, please do PM me incase I ever come across them! Cheers in advance!

I agree always good to be open about these things but I wasn't sure about the board rules. I should know the rules as I've been a member here for 7 years

*****Update 2*****

Right here we go.

After yesterdays drama, today was another fun filled day with my dealer.

I got a call from car dealer partner 'A' this morning, telling me he could get my car serviced this weekend by BMW, however I told him I'm away this weekend and thats no way possible. Anyway, he appologised deeply about what happened yesterday and told me to contact him next week when i was free so he could book with dealer.
I accepted his appology and agreed to next week and hung up.

About 30min later i get a call from one of the other guys who turned up at my house yesterday, 'the finance broker'. He explained to me that as the finance is in partners name the finance company is going to call her at work to go over some security details etc etc... i said fine no problem.
Said my goodbyes and tat was that.

I called my mrs and told her, she replied that they had already called and left her a message. she called the finance company back after her meeting and was told "the person handling your file is on another call, and will get back to you". my partner replied "I'm leaving work in the next 10min, so if you call back ring on the mobile".
End of call.

My mrs called me bak after finishing work, and told me what happened with finance company. i told her to not to wait for their call and just call em bak to get it over and done with.
My mrs agreed.

30min later i get a call from the mrs saying...
"I spoke to a lady called Helen at the finance company, she went over the make, model of the car, where its insured, asked for a copy of the insurance documents when they turn up etc. She asked me where did you buy car from and when are you taking delivery? I told her the name of the company is some dealer A. She replied, but i have a recipt infront of me from named some delaer b!"

My mrs then explained word for word what the dealer told us after fianance was arranged... it goes something like this...
"our credit licence has expired therefore we can not provide finance, unless you want to wait 5 weeks for our licence to renew. Therefore we have arranged finance with another dealer who we know, and he will pass the car on to you, so other than coming to this garage to sign paperwork, you go to that garage. We will still provide you with all paperwork, warranty etc, just finance will be arranged through another dealership"

My mrs went on to explain what happened, and how they turned up on our doorstep etc... quite rightly the finance lady was shocked/horrified and just didnt know what to say!
The finance lady went away to talk to her director and said "we have no problem with you as a customer, unfortunatley we have issues with the dealership now, as car was purchased from one place, ends up at another place, different receipts etc, and therefore we will not be releasing any money to ANY dealersip, and we advise you to return the car and ask for a refund on the deposit."

At this stage, call waiting goes on my fone and its the finance guy... i answered the fone, and he says...
"the finance company is trying to get hold of your partner at work and they cant coz shes left for the day and coz of that they wont release any money to the dealer, is their any chance your mrs could go back to work and answer their call...??"

I'll give you guys a few minutes to get over that, coz im shaking just writing it!!!! The faking cheek!

My response to this is...
"My partner spoke to the fiance company and they said that we wont be releasing any funds because of this, that and the other..., and we have been advised to return the car..."
Fone went silent for a while and he said "dont worry bout them, its been a little misunderstanding and I'll sort it out, wait for my call"

20min later I get a call from dealer partner A saying
"Hi Ash, sorry about all this messing around, but if i come along to your house, is it possible to pick up your mrs to take her to another dealership to sign paperwork with a different finance company..., i'll buy her a bunch of flowers for her trouble.."

My response was (considering I'm away from home for the weekend and my partner is home alone with my 18mth old daughter)...
"how about I come to your home and pick up your daughter, wife or girlfriend coz I wana show her how fast my M5 is... will they be comfortable?"

I hung up!

10min later I get a call from Dealer Partner B, who is alot chilled out and very appologetic and explained the whole story of how they messed up with the deal, and forgot to renew their credit licence and therefore were ina bit of a pickle coz they havnt been paid for the car... and if there was anyway my mrs could pop down or tey would provide lift door to door to sign new finance paperwork, and in return they will provide new receipts, warranty, have the car serviced provide a 2nd key etc etc...

Now i'm the least unreasonable person i know, but this is kinda taking the biscuit isnt it?

What i wana know is, who in gods name owns this car!!! lol!!! lol!!! And do I be reasonable in understanding that these guys have made a genuine mistake and the whole thing has bit em in the bum... coz honestly as far fetched it may sound i do believe em... and think "**** happens"...

i'd never use anyones mistake against em, but what do you guys think?

This is going from bad to worse.

What are you planning on doing? If it was me personally I would be handing the keys back and going elsewhere.

I think you've made the right decision. Good luck with the hunt for your next M5.

I've always fancied some shade of red. But resale value is a killer.

White looks great with some black rims....my favorite for the M5 besides the Interlagos. Black also looks great, but quite a few more out there than the white. Or just pick up an M6 and forget about the m5
