Ok, so I'm new to the forum and thought I'd share a few pics and videos from a trip i took last year. I had only had the car a week, but had scheduled a trip abroad to complete 4 objectives: 1. go on a stag party in Magaluf Mallorca, 2. go see family in the eastern side of Czech Republic, 3. sample the Top Gear ultimate roads (col de turini - san bernardino pass - stelvio pass) and finally 4. use my new toy.
I travelled through France, Spain, Magaluf Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Czech, Belgium.
Apologies for the quality, production and casting of the video and the fact I cannot give you the time back if you are not impressed, but please consider that I was alone, driving on the wrong side of the road, using a mobile to video, driving a car I didn't know and also scared that my exhausts may trigger an avalanche / rock slide in the Alps (no lie!! in one of the videos you may notice 3 cyclists pass me - the last one actually got hit by a falling rock on his helmet when next to me and I'm sure it was me who dislodged it on the way down ).

Yes it is. As I was by myself I thought it best to adhere to the various european laws so I didn't get stopped / fined etc from local police. So I made sure I had the road tax stickers when entering the different countries. I do a road trip most years - normally including the Nurburgring, also motorbikes in the past, but more recently cars. I have friends who have TVRs, Porsches, Astons, e39 M5 etc and I have never had anything that was in the same league (year before last I had a 545i which was a match for the M5). We are planning a trip this year so I am looking forward to the autobahns and the Ring and should get some better videos hopefully.

, tough one. The Col deTurini gets a lot different to the pics / video once on the other side. It basically turns into a large crack in a mountain that someone decided to carve out road into the side of the cliffs and then swap sides of the cliff every half mile or so. Very scary in some places and I also got into a race with a 'local'. Very scary speeds and to be honest if I got a corner wrong I wouldn't be here now, but credit to the M5 for helping me lose the local (he was only in an old Alfa but man did he know that road!!).
The San Bernadino pass is stunning from a scenery point and has long sweeping climbing roads and its true relaxing driving pleasure. What I couldn't believe is how many levels the mountains had e.g. you would climb a massive mountain and then get to a massive plato and it would be like you are on sea level again, and then you would climb yet another mountain. One of the pictures shows a massive hotel that was on one of these massive platos with a massive lake. This was at the foot of the stelvio pass which was another massive climb.
The Stelvio pass was stunning from a "am I really on the side of this mountain, on a road that looks more like a footpath". You can't really get out of second gear as it is just hairpin after hairpin and it's not a fast road but it's just a true achievement of road building.
The others were motorways in Czech, but I only managed to get up to 160mph and didn't push it anymore than that ( silly boy - I now don't know if my car is delimited - anyone know how I can check without trying over 160mph in th UK!!?). and also the views into Monaco etc.

Yes, looking at the videos and pics again I want to be back there, but with a proper camera and with my knowledge of the M5 as I have now, as I wouldn't be hanging around ).
