Hello M5 Board! New 2006 M5 owner with a few questions!

It's a 2006 SilverStone, got it with 20,000 miles on it & has Full Factory warranty & CPO. I've owned it for about 1 month. I have been traveling a lot lateley and haven't even put 1000 miles on yet. After 500miles, I had to take it to the dealer Increased Emissions light came on. It ended up needing two cats replaced, still under original BMW warranty (plus cats are 8/80K I believe). Anyway, I'm finally back in the drivers seat!

I have obtained a copy of the 2009.1 BMW Nav Disc which works perfect, however I don't understand about the red light and speed cameras. I have the option, and I can search them, but how does this actually work?

Second, I'm a warranty nut, and in the future was thinking about doing the Dinan Air Boxes and Stage II or III Software. I would think under normal driving the gas mileage would be better. Under a heavy foot I could see it being worse. I'm not too concerned about the mpg, but I wouldn't want it to be significantly worse.

Do the BMC Filters, RPI block-off plates and RPI scoops void a warranty? Obviously, I don't ever want to pay out of pocket to fix anything on this car!

I'm right out side of Dallas and if anyone has a nice dealer in the area please let me know. Wouldn't mind meeting some other local M5 owners.

I can't wait to really drive this car. I have always wanted an M series and love sedans, it was a match made in heaven! I have been reading on here for about 3 weeks and love it! More Pics Coming soon!

Hi. I have little to offer you in the way of answers. I do have a VERY similar car though. Silverstone with what looks like the same interior. Purchased last September in SoCal where I live. I'm right at the edge of warranty. The car was modified by the first owner . RPI exhaust, Dinan airboxes, Dinan suspension, Dinan computer upgrade, RPI scoops and EVO pully. They're amazing cars.................

Thanks for the reply back Xssive, its hard to believe the car could be better than what it is now, but I know with some mods it would be!

Do you know which cats were replaced?

I don't think the dealerships are overly concerned with things like the exhaust, filter's, rpi scoops, or blockoff plates. On the other hand I think they probably would care/void your warranty if they found software or pulley upgrades, however dinan offers it's own warranty on these products.

I just need to do some more reading. I'm really nervous about taking out the kidney grills to put on the scoops. If anyone is in Dallas and knows what they are doing and doesn't mind lending a hand, let me know! For starters, I am going to do the Scoops, Filters, and block off plates. Should I remove the charcoal filters as well? The BMC Filters, do they require oil?

Thanks for your replies!

This is the ticket from the cats being replaced. Please tell me if something looks out of the ordinary!
