Good choice. While the E60 M5 is my favorite 4 door sedan, I think the Panamera Turbo would be a fun car to try out after owning the E60 M5 for a while.

Very Nice. Curious how much..... I built one on Porsche's website and with all options it came out around 160K...

Beautiful car. I saw one this weekend and it does look a lot better in person than in pictures. Also, it is quite a bit bigger than I thought it would be. I see you went all out and got the turbo!! Would be interested to hear about your driving experience as compared to the old beast.

Having spent a good amount of time in all Panamera models, and the M5, (and M3) it's a nice choice indeed. Especially the Turbo with the Sport Plus Chrono...nothing like 567 lbs of torque (with the Sport Plus Chrono overboost), PDK, and a warranty. Typical with all Porsche and BMW models...always more than the sum of their parts. BTW - just leave the PDK in drive...it's unreal! Sometimes you might (might) have to go down an extra gear with the paddle.

We'll all benefit from BMW's answer to the Panamera.

BTW, I still love the E60 M5 too...and I think I always will...

We suffer so much don't we - Panamera/M5/M3...

With all that tq, I'm sure the PT feels quicker, but I'm not sure if it actually is. True it is slightly lighter than the M5, however, AWD robs a greater % of power than RWD does.

Wow. Until now, I hated that car (based only on the usual publicity photos), but those pictures look nice. I guess it's like the Maser QP, it's easy to see it as ugly, but when the light hits it right it is classy.

0-60 must be the most boring test out there...a stock Evo would hang with an M5 from a dig! I´m not saying that the Porsche isn´t fast, it is...but 0-60 doesn´t show the cars full potential.

Someone posted numbers done by american magazines i think, the M5 was faster 0-150 mph and has higher trapspeed at the quartermile.

That beeing said...I have seen a few Panamera´s and it sure is one ugly car, but surely a great machine.

Very sharp car - I saw one on the road the other day and was tailing it for quite awhile. The car is much longer and larger in person than photos do justice. The car also looks much better in person, as i've seen numerous photos before ive seen one in the flesh, and my initial thoughts were always = ugly car. I'd love to hear thoughts from the OP and a comparison to the M5.

I would bet the porsche is faster, its newer, more power. I would like to see a race on the roll which would be more fair to the M5. However, the exterior styling is not pleasing to my eye at all. I have seen some tuner modded Pana's and they look good. I thought the same thing about the Cayenee, Gemballa and Techart harsh improve the styling aspects. The Interior is just right sick. Falb, Enjoy.

I'd bet the M5 does not stand a chance, may it be from a dig or any rolling speed - very similar to vs. a 997 turbo.... and besides, I don't see anything wrong with admitting that there ARE faster and nicer cars out there.

I'll agree. The M5 is five years old. There is no shame in admitting another car in its class being faster.

I'm sure BMW will bring back the gold, so to say, with the F10.

Falb, the Porsche looks great. Let us know how she runs.

I'm glad you guys said that. I didn't since I'm new and was worried about someone flaming me.

Also the Panamera Turbo can be about $80K more than a new M5 once loaded up...so maybe not in the same class. The Panamera is also a "purpose" built model, not a high performance upgrade of another mainstream sedan. Realize the base Panamera is about the price-point of the M5...the most expensive of the 5-series line.

Besides - there's more to any car than just the numbers. Like many here...I just like driving the E60 M5. I look forward to it. I get to drive a lot of different cars, some of which would clean an M5's clocks, but they still might not "do it" for me.

BTW - The Panamera also "does-it" for me...in some numbers - 500hp/567tq with 24mpg, PDK and a 27gal tank AND really nice to drive. Exterior aside, go sit in one, it really sets a new standard.

As I said before - we should be excited to see BMW's answer. How about a 600hp M5 that get 27 mpg and DCT.

What am I getting at? - darned progress!

Jeeze, in three years or so our 500hp V10's will be antiquated and "slow"!??????

Who'd a thunk it?
