Both sedans are great, but guess once which one is going to win:hihi:

Not just that, but that drift in the last turn of the e63 must have lost him quiet some time there cuz its not the fastest way to go around corners. He could have used to traction to get the best out of the car. Maybe worth 2-3 tenths of a second?

I've said before and will say it one last time. The comparison is bogus especially with the M5.
Lets break it down. To compare NA vs. FI ?
1. The Caddy has a SC'er.
2. The M5 has 1.2 L less displacement.
3. With the disparity the M5 just barely lost.
The MB at least has 6.2L equal displacement.
If MT had any real integrity they would compare the Caddy against the M5 stroker or a SC'ed M5 (G-Power or ESS).
I'm sick and tired hearing about this Caddy.

So 7 speed SMG what do you mean by :nono:. Please explain what is flawed of the description. The Caddy only inches ahead with more motor and FI.

The CTS-V won fair and square in there test, Empahsis on THERE TEST!!! The Euro mags do the same thing, Autocar.co.uk always pushes there cars to beat American cars. They had the GT2 beating a ZR1 and the whole world besides them know thats BS. I dont like the CTS-V, but i do believe it out performs the M5 by a hair. With track times of 129.6 vs 129.7 is a win for the AMG, but it is close enough to call a draw if thats what they chose to do in a test that was so close in all other comparisons. Besides, how much of the magazine specs do we really care about in the real world? I dont, what about you???

"...by a hair." That's right despite the caddy having larger displacement and FI. Developed to beat up on a 3 year old E60 M5 NA engine platform. How impressive.
A neighbor just got a CTS-V, asked but doesn't want to run.

I've had an encounter with both of these machines in my M6 with "NO" mods. Both times they went home wanting to trade in their machines for a BMW. The Cad was the easiest of the two while the AMG was more challenging. And to make sure nothing gets close, Mods are coming soon.

They must have been hauling a truck, because both cars run quicker times than your M6. Not my opinion, just a fact.

Love the M6 though.

Let's be fair here, GM did a great job with the CTS-V as the M5 is considered the ultimate track sedan so for for GM to come this close to the M5 is a great achievement.

It's silly to say the Caddy is S. charged and the M5 is NA as every manufacturer has the freedom to use whatever configuration they like, you were so much in love with NA and against BMW switching to TT but now suddenly NA is a handicap ?

Let's face it GM did a geat job with the CTS-V and it seems Mercedes too did a good job with the new E63 so let's wait for the new M5 to destroy them both

Cad and AMG

About the Cad and AMG pulling a truck. I too am with you about their numbers are better than the M6s. But let me tell a short story. I have been wanting to test the M6 abilities against the Caddy ever since they hit the road. Never was I ever able to run into one, until one afternoon. As I cruised past the Caddy going about 70, he saw my M6 and pulled up alongside of me and gave his car a bit more gas. Knowing that he would want to show his stuff even before he came along side me, I put my M into the right gear and RPM. As he passed me I moved right behind him and we both took off. This challenge started out where I was about 2 cars of so behind him and within seconds I was ready to ram him in the rear. I knew there was no other cars to my right so as I got very close to him, to close for comfort, and made a fast lane change and pasted him effortlessly. I had to shut down at about 130 as my off ramp was only 100 feet ahead. Never was he ever able to close the gap as the faster we went, the further behind he got. I would have liked to have missed my off ramp to show more M6 ability, but I had ice cream in the truck and it had to get home.
As far as the AMG, I was coming back from Vegas and up comes this E63 AMG and gave me every indication he wanted a challenge. I took it and both took off starting at about 90 mph. I shut down at 145 mph and in that time I had only gained about 2 or 3 car lengths. So it was a much more of a challenge then the Caddy. In both cases I was not necessary surprised that I managed to come out ahead, but knowing how fast these Ms are, I was thrilled. I took extreme care in breaking in my M6 when I got it, so just maybe it's a bit faster than most. I am sure it helped that I had the traction control off and in the 6th shift mode?

Wow lucky you on these encounters DAFSTST. You should def keep a video camera in the car. I havent even seen the new E63 yet but I did race the new caddy V on the hwy and started after the driver smurked and took off and within a second i floored it and he got the jump (go figure) and was on arse and I started to creep on him and was about to waive bye bye but then he backed out. I am looking for a camera mount but I think I am going to look for a way to keep my license first :(

License and License Plate

Keeping your license is the utmost importance and I have taken chances for sure. I do have my radar on all the time and only do this in places that are safe and cop free. But my license plate does not help this out, since it means "The Fastest". Daily i am being challenged and I except, and in 15 seconds or less the M6 has proven superior. I am a driver and believer in BMWs since 1985 and now with the new Ms, are in love with these cars. Video Camera, what a great idea and thanks for suggesting that as I will look into one at once. I plan on doing some extensive mods soon and extensive testing with video results and will post them in detail once finished.
