Why are you going to sell it me back Mike??

Yeah I miss it, get bored of weighting of another solution and I loved the look and build of the RPI system... If I get one agian I WILL mod it with a couple of resonators to get the cold start/idle noise and drone banished! I want the weight saving and possibly a BHP gain, with a nice tone so I will work with LongLife on these issues.

What does your wife and neigbours think of it??

Regards

well James, when my p1 went in for the forged 2.35 conversion last August, my wife and neighbours were happy as they all thought that i had sold the car ( P1 IS still in the tuners at this moment....i know , its a long story !! ))
anyway the M5 turn up on my driveway ...everyone was ok with its as its a "sensible" performance car !!.
then yr exhaust went on lol....getting the same comments from wife(neighbours are abit more polite about it )

in fact I think the RPI is actually louder than my Blitz nur-spec system .
But its sound great from outside the car though

all this talk about the Gt3 has got me window shopping on the Auto trader , If i do change will pm you regarding rpi exhaust (thats if you still not source one)

Mike check out the Singer 911's, has got me thinking!!

Keep me informed on your movements and I'll do the same! My wifes on board with the GT3 to the point of talking about it more than me which is actually bad as I wanted her to be the voice of reason lol! She says the M5 is an old mans car!!!

I keep looking at Piston heads and the autotrader to, don't know how long I can resist.

I have storys of some of my cars going to 'tuners' for years to lol! Live and learn or not as the case may be! Whats theP1 had done? sounds interesting!

james,
lol regarding yr wife (wish mine thinks like that ..... I would buy the Gt3 tommorrow ) , yes I bought the P1 in 02 , previouse owner had done some mods on it to get the bhp to 310(280 standard), drove it for a few months....then started with a VF34 turbo,550injectors, Gruppe S headers and up pipe and Motec m800 motorsport ecu , Aps fr mount intercooler to bring the power up to 360bhp at the fly, kept this setup for a year (great everyday car ), then add a Aps Sr 40 turbo to up the power to 390-400bhp....got bored of this setup.
Drove a P1 with the (then not available in UK) US EJ257 2.5 block, six speed gearbox conversion (was awesome road car with 500lbs torque @ 5000 rev.....0-60 mph around 3.6sec),noted to one self need to have this setup.
So I Converted my P1 with a bottom 2.5 block, with forged omega piston, Forged Crower conrods, multi-layer Sti metal head gasket, Arp headstuds, new ported cylinder heads with supertech inlet/exhaust valves and springs for a reliable 500bhp+ engine ,
a bigger turbo was fitted (Lateral performance MD321T )bringing to power to 460-480 fly,
after run-in period and full remap of the mods/engine, car was awesome to drive .
my tuner reccommend to have the car running a "closed loop fuelling " option on the Motec(his words were icing on the cake lol )
as I use BR Developments in swindon for all my mapping ......As I drove down for the mapping my car develop a coolant temp problem, long story short , turns out the heads were "lifting " under high boost so if you drive it daily you will not notice it , only manifest it self over boost of 1.2 bar .
I though as the engine need to be out , might as well make it bullit proof...decide on a Ej22 block (as fitted to the legendary subaru Sti 22b)as this is the strongest engine to start with.
so as with any modiflied car you will run into problem ....this is my case , as I request to have the heads and block modifly for bigger 14mm Arp headstuds...i can go on and on with the probs that I had encounter !!
anyway the final spec "WHEN" complete :
Subaru P1
EJ22 2.35 forged engine with uprated /gas flow P1 heads
850 injectors
Aps fr mount intercooler
Graham goode racing alloy radiator
Sti 6 speed gearbox with Rcm carbon fibre propshaft
uprated billet engine and gearbox mounts
walbro fuel pump/ fse fuel regulator
all hose and fitting uprated with samco/alloy fittings
motec m800 ecu with close loop fuelling option
Apexi-Avcr boost controller
AP racing 6 pot BBK
Brembo sti rear brake kits
Whiteline uprated fr and rear anti-roll bars
and all accompanying mods .
capable of 500+bhp with similar torques
this setup will defo be a handful on the road ...as the P1 is very light compare to the M5

to be honest although the m5 is a great car no doubt...i really missed driving the P1 as its a different (more raw) feel to the M5.
will keep you post on the exhaust if i decide to sell/change .

Mike

Mike

I like your style! Your P1 sounds awesome, when you get it back you'll have to give me a shout, would love to see it!

As I said I have storys that go along the same lines, now mater how much power you get you will get used to it!! With me I topped out at 800bhp then when the audi went back in for more work I sold it and desided to become sensible hence the M5.

I've always love 911's sinc3e I saw one aged 5 by my family home and have been fasinated ever since!

lol james , don't we all , actually it was a choice between the 996 turbo or the m5 , as my business partner's family were changing both cars , but opt for the M5 as found the turbo to be abit "boring"(not the best word i know ) but very capable car , now the Gt3 will be a different animal!!
I think when you get to a certain stage in performance car ownership ...somehow "standard" spec will just not do !!
i am fortunate to be in a position to mod the cars I have (not rich, just a good income from my business ), as i know in these time its seem not the sensible thing to do as others are been made redundant .

we see whats the situ is after Christmas , the Gt3 might be on the agenda .......but my wife might object as she says i have too many toys (made me sell my Gsxr 750 after i broke a collar bone..)
