red light cameras

Just got a "warning" in the mail for running a red light on a new camera installed near where I live.

I absolutely do NOT run red lights as I was nearly killed by someone that did.

What I did do I guess was not make a full stop on a right turn on red.

This new camera p*sses me off and I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about the products that claim to keep your license plate unreadable by speed and light cameras.

Thanks

Happened to me too except I got a ticket. They not only take pics but video you too. So when you "trip" the cameras, a human eventually reviews the sequence and determines whether or not you are truly guilty. In your case you must have come close but they decided to give you only a warning. I don't know if there is any device out there that can mask your plate from a video camera but if there is... Big Brother will be watching out for you!

I got a warning only because the camera just went up. They said in the letter that it was a 30 day 'grace' period. I have read on line from some TV article back east that a study showed a high percentage of incorrect tickets due to various technical glitches but that when people tried to challenge, the courts always take the side of the camera due to $$. The article said the guilty rate on challenged cases was 99.7% even though the accuracy is far below that apparently.

I could not get a photo due to the fact that I was not ticketed.

Also everywhere these cameras are coming up for a plebiscite, they are soundly defeated.

There was a thread about a month ago, where a member was pulled over by a cop that loved his e-race exhaust. The cop then showed the guy how to "beat" the red light camera when taking a right turn. Cant remember the forum members name. I'll search for the thread.

Found it.

Fellow M5BOARD member, the MOST amazing story of 2009, easily.

Of course the camera wont go off when you stop on a right turn on a red... as turning on a red after a complete stop is LEGAL!

With all of the people running red lights in my area(and I mean full tilt through a solid red light) those cameras may be a good idea.
The only thing I have a problem with is the photo radar(speeding) stuff.
Those I can certainly do without!!

Just so you know, this is a feeder road off of the highway, at rush hour. two lanes can turn right and no one is going over 5 mph. There will be a half mile of cars waiting all through this time period and the simple fact is by the time you get to the light, everyone just sort of slows and gos.

Up until now anyway.

You wanna try driving in the UK, The fuckers are evrywhere! Cameras at red lights, cameras on motorways for speeding, cameras on single roads for speeding, varible speed cameras for speeding, hidden cameras for speeding! It's crazy.

I think it's fair to say the UK is the most driver unfriendly country on the planet.... wouldn't advise anyone to come here....
