So Earlier today i was on my way home, and while stopped at a light, a yamaha r6 pulls up next me and we kinda glance at each other, and i knew it was going down lol. My conti's give me no grip at all from a dig, so i drove upto about 40 had it in 2rd gear the r6 rolls right next to me i give him a signal for 3 honks, he gave me a thumbs up. Right from the start i jumped ahead assuming he was not experienced or messed up the start, i kept a car length ahead of up until 120 and we both let off. The next light arrives, and he signals for another try. We took off at the same speed, and same results i was soo shocked with the turn out, and so was my passenger. I dont want to say what a kill because it just didnt look like he had any chance, and my car is bone stock, maybe he was inexperienced or maybe he was just a little scared to give it his all, but he did duck down for more aerodynamics, but i still held him off by a car length on both runs. i know the beast is fast but this is just something else
An R6 is not going to faster than the M5... but an R1 ... thats a whole other story...

I mean ofcourse the R1 is a whole other story, but form what ive read, an r6 should have an edge until 100. With my run in, i had him beat even at 40 all the way up to 120
A well ridden R6 should have you up to 100, but after that, you would kill him-I should think, especially above 130 or so.
You wouldn't catch an R1, period.
An R1 would leave an M5 for dead.

Road tests of the R6 show 1/4 mile of nearly 11:00 flat and speed in the quarter of 130. And that's for a 2004 model. The same year the Kawasaki 600 did 10.77 in the road test. Even from a roll, you shouldn't be catching a well driven 600 til well over a 100.
Just like many m5 drivers seem to go at it from a roll at about 5k rpm, bike guys often do the same thing. You need to be around 11000 or higher on a 600 at the start of the roll-on.
Your guy couldn't drive...

logpak,
That would make my day also!
Also, congrats. on having such a nice car at a young age.
Hat's off to you, sir!
Thank you sir, i am very lucky to be in the Family Business and everyone please do not get the idea that i am a wreckless driver, i have been driving for nearly 4 years, and not a single ticket or accident (knock on wood) as a matter of fact my M5 actually averages around 13.9mpg. But thanks again.
