Will a software update fix the faults?????

Since owning my june 2006 M5 (bought it at the end of september this year) I have seen a few issues. The main one is very weak aircon. If you set the face level vents to the coldest setting in Idrive you merely get moderately cool air with the control knobs on the panel set to the lowest setting. As you turn up the heat via the rotary knobs (leaving the Idrive setting at coolest) the face level vent air comes out pretty warm. I also cannot hear the AC compressor kick in and switching the AC on and off makes no difference to the cool air temp. In comparison to my now departed E46 M3, my current X3 and loan E90, they are icy cold out of the face vents.

I also have an intermittent issue where maybe once a day I cannot shift to the next gear. Pull on the + paddle and nothing, if I drop a gear it is fine, I can then shift up again with no issue.

Had a few other problems with the nav drive not reading the disk intermittently and also taking a horrifically long time to calculate routes, my MK4 DVD nav in the M3 was seconds to calculate, this can take minutes!!!

It is in the dealers and they are saying the CIP? code is low (have the brown screen on the Idrive) and they feel updating the car to the latest CIP will cure all issues. Has anyone else had these problems cured with a code update?

The dealer also said that at 18500 miles my front disks have uneven wear on the inside edge!!!!!!! I have spoken to the supplyying dealer (it is at my preferred one) who say that the dealer the car is at over exaggerated the problem and that it is not uncommon to have to replace the disks at 25000 miles which I find crazy. I have owned M cars for a number of years and have not done a pair of disks at anywhere near 25000 miles so I think either the disks are crap (I definately think the brakes are poor) or there is a fault that needs to be sorted either via warranty or by the supplying dealer digging into their own pockets and replacing my disks.

Does anyone have any thoughts or advice regarding this?

Many thanks.

The ac problems might be cured by a regas, get the dealer or a automotive AC company light Autoclimate to do a regas and leak check (puts dye in the system).

The software update should speed up the Idrive and sat nav but its still not quick and can hang when first started in the morning.

No idear on the gearbox fault, not heard off this one.

The uneven wear on one side of the discs is probably from the car standing, normally you would get approx 40-50000 miles from the discs but they corroid very easly. In the winter when I park my car up for 2 weeks every time I go to work, on my return the discs are rusty, judder and take a few hundered miles to recover. I now get may car washed before I park it at the Heli-port to try and stop this!! I'd go with good will from the dealer on this.

Recode has seemed to sort all the bugs but it is the uneven disk wear that concerns me. Going to have to go to the supplying dealer tomorrow for them to look at it. AC is now nice and cold, got the silver Idrive screen with enhanced menus as well now and functionality is much improved.

Depending on the shift program I found that if the revs are to low mine will not upshift. My ac is ice cold in fact had to shift the vents as they were freezing my fingers.
