wheel hop.....

Today at the 1/4 track I experienced some wheel hop on the 1-2 shift. I let off the throttle each time just to make sure nothing would happen to the car. Has anyone experienced this before? Its not happening when I launch but only on the 1-2 shift.....

Wheel hop (wheel tramp) is normally a function of the dampers and grip and relitive wheel slip/speed, Basicly its a frequency thing., your sticky tyres and worn dampers might be causing the problem or you aren't getting enough spin on the gear change although the dampers should cope with this.

Was it just one side tramping?

Have you looked to see if the damper has burst eg oil around its body??

Others have used stickier tyres with no problem.
