My voltspreak battary gave up on me

well, eventhough its lighter and i didnt face any problems since purchasing it. It finally gave up on me after 7 months of ownership.

3 days ago when me and ahmed went to the dyno Last Night's Dyno Runs!, i got the car on the dyno and did 2 pulls and got it off and parked it with all the lights still lit in the dash. I then had to move it to make way for anther car and reparked instead of going for a quick run to get rid of my lights. And when i was ready to leave, it didnt start nor was there any light lit in the car. We jumped started it and i managed to get home yet the car wouldnt start the next day. So the old battery went in after being charged and to my suprise the car feels faster than it was before! Ahmed even drove it and confirmed. So off it went to the dyno for confirmation yet i did a mistake of forgetting to switch off my dsc and so the car jerked before i switching it off the dsc. Final numbers were 433 whp 331 wtq, (-16whp and -1 wtq) than 2 days ago when i had the lighter battery in. I think the car went into safe mode and gave a conservative reading. I did get the transmission warning which asked to driver moderatly.

There is no doubt that the car is faster now which im suspecting is because the car didnt get enough voltage prior. Next is removing the 2nd fan and redynoing.. 468 just seems out of reach at the moment

p.s. the weather is 29.5 c tonight, almost the same temp as my peak hp run. And for the battery, well it seems $1500 have just gone down the drainage.

No doubt your car came to life after removing that battery Abdulla.. no doubt!

And about your latest dyno pull, definitely not what it should be! Either tranny fault message played a big role in power reduction on that run, or something not right with that dynojet!

You car pulled much stronger last night bro, you don't have to be gifted to realize it.

After sleeping on it, here are my thoughts.

Initially after installing it, i did feel a slight performance gain since it had shaved off 50lbs yet now after months of usuage. I guess the battery has become weak thus gave the low numbers before eventually giving in.

M-77, ill give it a try but i seriously doubt they will change it for me. if they dont, i have my good old stock battery :p

That's rather disappointing. With only 7 months on it, it comes out to $215 a month. Pretty pricey.

I would contact them about the battery and ask for a replacement. That is too much money for the battery to be defective this soon. They should do something for you just for the potential negative publicity they will receive on this forum that will prevent future buyers.

Hi Black M5,

Sent you a PM with warranty repair/replacement instructions. There shouldn't be any difference in dyno results between the lithium-iron battery and a lead-acid battery, all else being equal. If anything, the battery should be a tiny bit (talking about .01 to .1 HP) better than a lead-acid battery, though other variables will far outweigh this difference, like the state of charge of the battery, if the car's electronics has adjusted to the new battery, etc.

- Tony
