It was bound to happen...hit & run...but I got her!
Guess it was a matter of time before a careless driver took the paint virginity on my beloved M5. I was parked in a parking lot on my phone when I felt a little nudge and noticed a car had hit me and was taking off. I hopped out on foot to literally run the driver down and I ran down an older lady. Amazing how people will take off. Thankfully I was in the car. She's going the insurance route and unfortunately for me this will show up on Carfax so even though it wasn't my fault I'm getting screwed (again). My E90 335i was hit pretty hard, went through insurance, and had it listed as 'in an accident' through Carfax. What sucks also is that BMW won't give a BMW loaner for body work, so I'm guessing I get an Enterprise Ford Focus or something for the week.

Take lots of pictures, even better if you have a camera with a time stamp on the picture so you can show prospective buyers it was purely cosmetic. It should help minimize any loss of value. You should also call her insurance company and ask what their procedure is for a loss of value claim. It's probably a long shot, but I've heard of people pushing for compensation for loss of value as a result of a third party's negligence.
Good luck.

I can't believe my eyes. How does that happen? I guess she was putting on some last minute mascara and was probably more upset about smearing her makeup than driving over cars.

Ridiculous, my M was hit almost a year ago but I made sure the other guys insurance took care of me. They put me in a G37 sedan, could have got a Range Rover but i'd have to wait a day. They are liable for your inconvenience, make them pay up

What did you say when you asked her why the hell she was driving away after hitting your car?
I agree with the other posts. Take pictures of it (preferably with a time stamp) to show that this was the "accident."
But push her insurance company VERY hard for compensation for loss of value, get a good loaner, and make sure everything comes out perfect.
hit and run is a felony. why don't you bring that up. loss of many rights and future difficulty in obtaining a job should scare her into compensating you extra for your troubles. I would have just called the cops b/c she ran. Anytime someone leaves a scene of an accident they caused, its an automatic felony and jail sentence with mostly likely a fine on top.

I think in most all states it is only a felony if there was bodily injury to someone. If it's just property damage, then it's a misdemeanor.
