PDC is driving me CRAZY!

Ok... so I've had no PDC for a long time. The button did nothing, it flashed continuously no matter what I did. I finally decided to investigate. The control module was fried. I opened up the box and the circuit board was corroded and disintegrating. I remember about six months ago a bottle of washer fluid opened in my trunk and that must have soaked everything. All the connectors were corroded too.

So I got a new PDC control module. Ok, well the light stopped flashing all the time... I could turn it off now by pressing the button. It still didn't work though.

Ok so I take apart the connectors (VERY tedious!!!!) and soaked them in contact cleaner to get rid of all corrosion. That seems to have worked--they look great.

Now I have the same "clicking" sound from all of the sensors... yet, it still doesn't work! I've tried everything people have suggested that I could find on various boards--reset iDrive, unplug battery and let the whole car reset, etc.

I am out of warranty and am NOT going to let the dealer go on a wild goose chase at $120/hr. There has to be something I'm missing but I haven't found it yet!

Another PDC question

I recently bought a 2008 M5 equipped with PDC. Seems to work fine, but I am wondering is there any easy way to turn it off - i.e. disable it from automatically coming on when the car is put in reverse? I have a small garage so every time I start the car and put it in reverse I have to hear the obnoxious beeping telling me that I am close to the front of the garage which I already know. Its not that big a deal to hit the button to turn it off or just back out fast to stop it but it would seem better if I could turn the automatic PDC off and only use it when I wanted to by hitting the button. From looking at the manual and searching here it doesn't seem there is a way but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks in advance.

Hopefully they don't charge you for programming.

I know when I tried (at first) to reflash my ECU at a dealer with DINAN s/w they tried to charge me their labor rate for an hour. All they have to do is plug in the unit, press OK and set it aside for it to download and come back to it.

In the end they are going to do it free (need to fix my 8MPG, gas leak issue first though)
