bang when shifting from 3rd to 4th

Finally had a chance to beat on my new m5 today.. M mode on, traction off, p500 etc.. Got on it in 3d, shifted into 4th and it shifted so fast/hard that it felt like the rear end was going to fall out of the car! It almost felt like it spun shifting into 4th? Shifting into 5th was fine

How is it any different than when shifting from 1st to 2nd?

Hard to say without feeling it myself, but I think it's normal. At my track day my M5 had hard shifts into 4th as well. I think it's just the S6 SMG, it's just hard at redline.

Try it in all gears at 8250 RPM, should be pretty hard 2nd through 4th.

I had tried DSC off and S6 a couple of times around town, but never at WOT and wasn't impressed with the difference between S5 and S6. But after reading this thread I tried it WOT this weekend. HOLYCRAP! It did feel like someone slammed into my rear end. It is just amazing the difference on how fast and how hard the shift is. All this time I have been missing out on some great fun. No more!
