Hamann and AC Schnitzer?

Just curious why I don't hear much about members using their products for performance. These are two are big world known companies but I never here much about them on the board.

They both seem to make great exhaust systems and ECU tuning.

Thanks,
Bryan B

Maybe because they dont make their exhuast and charge to have their name on an exhuast made by someone else?

I know for a fact that hamann uses SS exhaust.

Yeah...and typically with re-branding you get a mark up.

Because they are past their sell-by dates, that's why!

The days of "I don't need to market or promote myself cause I am a big name" are gone. If I purchase, I want after sales support and feedback like many sponsors here.

Hamann and ACS do not provide that.

There quality is second to none. They must spend a lot of money to meet TUV standards where a lot of other brands do not. In years past, you usually got what you paid for, but these days the smaller names are putting out better product and the $/Euro exchange rates dont help pricing of the products here in the US. I still believe AC Schnitzer is one of the best names in BMW tuning.

Aside from the fact they are EXTREMELY expensive, they also don't look that great anymore imo. I used to have the ACS front lip and roof spoiler on my 3 series, but i simply don't like what they have to offer for the M5. Shot of my old 3er below:

Performance wise, I think there are better offerings from other US based manufacturers that are MUCH more affordable. In addition, ACS and Hamann contract with a lot of manufacturers for their products so you essentially pay for the name. For instance, ACS exhausts are built by Remus, you can get a Remus muffler for a fraction of the price with the same sound and level of performance.

I am a huge fan of ACS and Hamann, we had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Hamann's facility in Laupheim. All of their designs are produced in house and their R&D is quite impressive. I would not hesitate to do Authentic aerodynamics or wheels from them but as far as suspension and performance, I think there are better priced alternatives.

Just some photos I posted up awhile ago. Their products are crazy expensive but they were so passionate about cars when we went to visit them. They mentioned their biggest clients are from Russia, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait. Figures...
