I took the beast up to RPI to have some new go fast goodies installed and I am really happy. I somehow managed to get a set of their really slick headers with the swapable primary cats, the Supership custom software tune, and the totally "cool" oil cooler (thanks SW!).
I have had the scoops and BMC filters for over a year and have been happy with them since day one and when I read about the headers I was really excited. I really like the idea of being able to swap the cats back on if I need to get teh car smogged and blown away with the dyno charts that show the RPI headers making more power and torque than SS and EVO headers. The oil cooler seemed like a "nice to have" but I am moving to Vegas and it is hot as crap there so I had to get the oil cooler as well. I didnt think I would like the oil cooler that much but it is kick butt. First of all it works, oil temps have not gone higher than normal under very aggressive driving, second it looks like the car has a huge front mount intercooler and goes nicely with the RPI scoops.
The guys at RPI did a before and after dyno runs to see the improvement in power output. The peak power went from 393 to 422 (29 horsepower peak gain) but what is WAY more impressive is the huge increase in torque. Check out the picture. From 5000 rpm to 6500 there is at least 30 more ftlbs and a peak of ~40 more ftlbs. There is just more power everywhere and it didnt change the power curve at all, just like stock only more.
The before dyno runs included RPI scoops, EVO pulley, and BMC filters.
The after runs included the above items plus; RPI headers, software, block-off plates, and oil cooler.
The drivability of the car on the street is awesome. Lots of grunt out of the turns and I can have fun without going over 6,500 rpm.
Thanks for taking good care of my ride, RPI!
Now the only challenge is not getting the full RPI exhaust, knowing I could easily have MORE power!!!
I also, included some pics of two new interior carbon pieces I had made by CA Automotive.
You can ignore the second half of the video, not sure what happened, but loading HD video to Youtube is a pain in the a**.
