I started a new thread on my service trip, but thought I would copy it in this thread since it is pertinent here.

So, I took my M6 to the Dinan dealer today for the final check and oil change. It is about 125 miles and ~ a 2 hour one way trip.
On the way down some old hag in a crossfire tried playing with me. She quickly had her attitude "adjusted", and was chicken to drive over 115 mph (still was breaking it in).
Got to the dealer and talked with my SA, Tim. I got a kick out of the stares the M6 gets. This service drop off area is a common space inside with the waiting area. Lots of lookers. But, LOTS of head turning when Tim started the engine. I don't get to hear it from outside of the car, because I am the only one driving her. Very distinctive sound.
This dealer does it correctly. Nice waiting area at the service department. Snacks, drinks, computers etc. They hand wash and dry the car for you. Nice to see some one still gives a rat's ***.
Got the car back and was told "open it up". The traffic on the way home was heavy, so not a lot of "opening up" happened, but some did.
The amount of torque that this engine produces from 6,000 RPM to redline is, shall we say, quite impressive. You can achieve wheel spin in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd without even trying. You can also get the back end loose just as easily. I even broke loose the rear at 55 to 60 mph passing and not full throttle. That, was fun. I will have more once I get a chance to drive the car longer.
No Dyno done today, my scheduling mistake. Will do it at a later date.
The dealer had a 5 series there with M badging. Something looked weird, so I glance at the shifter and the steering wheel, not an M. look at the rear, one sided exhaust. Threw up a bit in my mouth.
I am 100% convinced the only way to drive these cars is in S6, DSC off. It is such a pleasure to experience.
Lastly, saw a Pontiac Vibe GT. Thought WTF is that? A "sportier" Vibe. Uhhhhh, sure.

Nice write up Scott.
That Pontiac Vibe GT is a special edition with 700rwhp and will give you a nice ***** kicking.
I hear you. You're right about that, the wait has been tough. I miss my M5.
The results will be well worth it.

between a few hours of doing work this morning i was able to wade through the entire thread. all i can say is - amazing. congrats to all of you 7 stroker owners. brings back memories when i had to bring my car to dinan hq and steve was gracious enough to let me snap a pic of the then in-development (almost done) stroker, subject to me posting the one side of the engine that he said was ok. in my wishful thinking moments, i'd love to gray market/federalize an e61 m5 touring, then stroke it! and since it appears it only takes about a week (compared to the s3 version of the e39 m5) i can even personally drive it over to morgan hill and hang out the whole time. now that would be fun....
I added this to another thread, but will post here as well.
I have been waiting to post my initial impressions until I got more familiar with the new engine. I just got back from a little drive and achieved a 4.0 second 0-60 on my Performance Box with little effort, as I did not use LC or a drop clutch launch and shifted a bit too early. Ambient temp was 65 degrees. Atlanta altitude is 1000 feet.
The first thing I noticed with the engine was significant wheelspin throughout the rev range. I began to be concerned that traction would become more of an issue than I had anticipated. My PS2's were still good for another several thousand miles, but I changed them out anyway, and this made a considerable difference. Based on driving perceptions and Performance Box times at 10 MPH increments, while the power is increased throughout the rev range it is most prominent in the lower RPM range, which is exactly what I wanted given the the lower torque off the line in the stock M5. Additionally, I no longer get the kick in the back shift from first to second, but do get it from second to third. Not sure why, but I am guessing that it is due to the flatter torque curve of the stroker engine. Dinan seems to think it is also due to the lower reciprocating mass.
All in all so far I am pleased with the engine. Certainly not as powerful as forced induction and nitrous options, but it is giving me what I wanted--great throttle response of a naturally aspirated engine with significantly increased torque over stock, particularly where it previously was lacking in the lower RPM's.

Great, thansk for the update. I beleive traction problems are inevitable. New PS2 tyres wil ldefinetly help. You should tru a 60-120 mph run with a Performancebox just to get hunhc. ThenI beleive you can give 100% throttle and pass 60 mph going full, so it is not static from 60 mph.

+1...After having ridden in the car a few times the major improvement is the low-end torque. The power comes on so much quicker and itstarts pulling hard around 3k all the way to redline. There is definitely more top-end power as well but it has AMG levels of torque now which makes the car a lot more fun to drive around town not having to rev the hell out of it to get going. Really impressed.
Streetking, have you had any nice epxeriences so far with yours? And what about the Chinese Dinan strokers?
Sorry I have not been on here for a while, infact I drove my M5 for the first time in about a month today. I still love it, fast as hell. Here are the two projects I have been working on.. the Camaro is blown and makes 609rwh, the Lambo will be back this weekend and made 1250 rwh..
