/shrug, i just build the cars. performance decision and numbers were researched by streetking and cody, they probably have spreadsheets of comparison data for all the parts available

From what I understand, TMS, RPI and Dinan seem to all agree that the primary gain in power is from the removal of the primary cats itself, not necessarily the headers. The headers from Evosport, SS and RDSport all work but with the argument above, it's because the primary cats are deleted.

As for equal length vs non-equal length (or pulse tuned designs), I think each design has a different effect on your hp and torque curve. Just my guess though.

From what I've seen I believe the difference is retaining the V10 sound, while the Evosport gives the engine a V8 muscle sound. Also the RPi, when tested against the Evosport headers, had a stronger midrange torque and greater HP gains throughout the band. You can find the dyno comparison through the search function.

That is true! When I had the evosport I hated the sound it makes and decided to decat my stock headers. However, my butt dyno feels stronger acceleration at the high rpm range with the Evosport.

I do not know. Call me stupid but it strikes me as unusual when someone just cuts off the primary cats and calls the stock exhaust manifolds "their headers". Was there header tubular design R&D as Supersprint, Evosport or RD Sport?
I guess I'm a dumb$h!t but I thought BMW designed those stock exhaust manifolds (which actually flow pretty damn good)?

you guys must hate my guts . I'm sorry but all I am is a simple plain speaking guy.

Ranger

I hear you but I think it's a misnomer, they probably don't know the stock system are called manifolds vs headers which they hear all the time around here

Well even the Service Manager at my local dealer calls the stock unit a header. I told him I have aftermarket headers and he was like "but the car already came with headers"

If you want it to be permenant it pretty much a cut and weld job, but you need to find a decent muffler shop. I think there is a tread showing what RPI's headers look like...prehaps you can show it to your muffler shop so he can get an idea on how it should be done. Another way, is to scrap out the primary cat and install a straight pipe inside.

Here is the link:
