I believe you are correct. At the same time, there is something psychologically appealing about Dinan using an "almost new" block for the "new" engine.
It's better to use a "seasoned" block than a new one, especially when you are stroking, changing pistons ect. In my 1700+ hp Supra, I always use season blocks when we freshen up the motor.

Yep fully agree! I know BMW and others used to leave the block castings out side to 'age'/relax before machining for special applications.
Better a good old engine core than a brand new one.
Yeaeven though the interior is new, everything else is reused, i've switching over everything I can from our original engines to the stroked just to be safe. Water pump, vanos pressure pipe, lateral oil pumps, oil level sensor.

I should be done with the break in period in a week or two. Then it goes to the dealer for service and to be put on the dyno. After that the real fun begins. I have been out of town, so the break in has been slightly longer for me.
