Does it matter how new or old the block is (I can see if it has like 60,000 miles on it) but they bore out cylinders anyway so it's a fresh surface regardless, no?
What am I missing?
(Sorry if I sound like an idiot...)
I believe you are correct. At the same time, there is something psychologically appealing about Dinan using an "almost new" block for the "new" engine.

That's very true. Also there are other internal parts that are not changed.

I also agree. I was a little surprised that they use "old" parts, but call the engine "new". As Rick said to me, semantics. As long as it works properly and more importantly is under warranty, I am a happy boy!

Yeaeven though the interior is new, everything else is reused, i've switching over everything I can from our original engines to the stroked just to be safe. Water pump, vanos pressure pipe, lateral oil pumps, oil level sensor.

Another reason I am glad I am getting M6SCSMD's motor. (Relatively) new pumps for me.

Makes sense, better transition during clutch engagement. Raced a friend's M6 over the weekend...... Now he wants the full S3 package. Number 2 in China, give my regards to Steve Dinan.

Does anyone know if Dinan MATCHES the existing warranty, or it's 4 years from the time of conversion??
Dinan matches your remaining new car warranty only in the U.S. There were a couple of people who bought a brand new M5 and M6 for that very reason to get the full 4 year 50K mile warranty in the U.S. for their strokers.
If your car is out of warranty, there is only a 2 year warranty on Dinan products. Dinan racing products (certain exhaust pipes and pulleys) have a 2 year only warranty from Dinan with no new car matching warranty.
