How forgiving is BMW with brake jobs?

so... my car has 22,000 miles on it. Ive never needed any brake work. According to the iDrive, I have 6,000 miles left until I need brake service. I took the car to the track this weekend and pushed it VERY hard. Now my brakes make a sort of "grinding" noise and a slight vibration when coming to a stop. Nothing huge, but Im anal about my car and want it fixed.

Even though the stupid iDrive thing says my brakes are fine and, in reality, I probably have some more pad left, how likely would it be for BMW to replace the pads and resurface the rotors for me?

In my book, 22,000 is about as long as Ive ever gone in any car without having a brake job. I guess its because these brakes are that good

thanks!

BMW does NOT resurface....if they look at it and determine excessive wear they could bust your balls....how friendly are you with your SA.???? mine wouldn't hesitate but yours??? you never know...

Needing a brake job @ 22k miles would be considered excessive? Whats the norm for this car?

I don't think that that would be excessive. My M3 called for it at 26k miles and that wasn't excessive at all. When I was talking to my SA (during that brake job), he said that he's seen M5's and M6's go through brakes in 5-6k miles.

I'd give it a shot.

Same scenario for me, my 08 has 38K miles on it, and the brakes really squeak. Took it to dealership, and the SA told me they can't replace it because it still has some life left. He said to come back in about 10K miles!!! Screw him. My lease is coming up anyways, so I just bought a new car

You may just have excessive pad deposits on your rotors.

Get the pads and rotors warm with some mild stops down to low speed a few times. Then find an open stretch of road and stop from 80 mph down to about 5-10 mph. Stop really hard but do not allow the ABS to kick in; also do not come to a complete stop. Do this a couple of times allowing the brakes to cool between stops. It may 'clean' your rotors for you and rid you of the vibration.
