Explain this!!!

I have a 507hp beast and have not received a ticket (knocked on wood,) but my girlfriend who has a 4 cylinder eco car w maybe 140 hp gets 2 in a week. And the sad part is she finds a way to make me feel guilty.

guilty for what? Tell her she needs to pay more attention while driving and turn the charm on if she does get pulled over. My girl gets pulled over and never gets tickets but I always get one if they stop me.

In the three months my family has had our E46 M3, I have not gotten 1 ticket. Actually, I have never gotten a ticket in my life (I'm 18 though). I think its mostly luck, as I know many people who virtually never speed, but get caught the second they do.

need more details to support your dilemma. What were the tickets for? DWI? Solicitation? Reckless Driving?

if the drivers were reversed and she was given the M5 to drive.. i honestly dotn feel that would help her situation. How can you feel guilty?

No offense, but you might want a slightly longer track record before your start hitting that comfort zone.

Apparently, the cops think you are cuter!

Guilty for what? I don't see the connection between econo-car/gas guzzler and getting tickets.

It would be interesting to know whether this holds over a wider population. I would not be surprised if that is the case. Most people driving high performance cars have some form of protection (V1, blinder, etc.) or are at least more conscious of the threat. So, while we probably get ticketed more frequently once we are pulled over (i.e., less leniency) and these violations may be more severe, I would hazard a guess that that is somewhat countered by our evasive measures.

^^^ Agreed. My wife constantly makes fun of my hypervigilance any time I'm driving the M5. Also, I think driving habits play a role. If I'm in the M5, I'll tend to drive pretty gently most of the time, except in specific spots that I know are safe (both from police and, more generally, hurting anyone), at which point, I'll drive in a manner that would almost certainly land me in jail if caught.

Years ago, I got a (ironically, bogus) ticket for 71 in a 50 back in St. Louis in my 996 C4S. Had the officer planted himself 1/4 of a mile further up the road, he would have clocked me (legitimately) on a deserted stretch at 158. Knowing that sight lines decreased and side roads enter the highway at that point, I always drop the speed down (fully all the way to 50 before I went round the corner that hid the PO), which kept me out of jail that day.

I would be cautious admitting to such facts on a public forum...

Unless the state of MO considers this a Class A felony, the statute of limitations on would require me to have been charged within 3 years, so it's all good.

Besides, for all you know, I'm fabricating the story to make myself seem cooler to my internet buddies.
