Saurma is not exactly a novice, improving on his time by 21 seconds doesn't sound right to me. That time would also put it ahead of the F430 by 3 seconds...

Laidback are we going to start this all over again .

Things have not been so good lately (the economy sucks and the gov't is not paying) but I need to get out and plan a run against an M5/M6 with my 997GT3.
My M5 was going to be used for the run but it is down for the engine build creating the V10 TT built motor.
No more talking.

This discussion without a doubt is a lot of fun .

I don't think any of your cars are good for what everyone is looking for, base results. Comparisons should always be stock vs stock, your cars are too fast

Chris I'll race your buddy Charles with video if he doubts the M6

The M5 was hitting the limiter on the long straight at 269 km/h, when Saurma drove it in the Sport Auto test.

Maybe when BMW drove it, the limiter wasn´t there, shaving of a couple of seconds there, and also during the track? Hans Stuck is a better and faster driver.

And then again, putting it in front of the F430 only means that the drivers were different...don´t you agree? On a track like Nürburgring you can find and also lose many many seconds with just tiny mistakes. Even though Saurma is a good driver, there are always better ones out there.

Then you have different days, air, humidity, temperature and so on.

Even a google search didn't yield anything.

However, that sure is one fast lap for 4000+ lbs.

One thing though, I thought the Dodge Viper ACR ran one of the fastest lap time? I do not see it even on the list?

It appears the list was originally copied from here:
Top laptimes Nürburgring Nordschleife - GTSPIRIT.COM

Of all the sites listing lap tmes, this was the only site (not including forums) listing the e60 M5 doing 7 minutes 52 seconds.

I can't help but wonder why BMW M wouldn't be all over this in their marketing department.

For the record, Saurma did post 7 minutes 50 seconds in a M3 CSL.

And for the record, Hans Joachim Stuck (Hans Stuck was his father) did post a 7 minutes 50 seconds in a BMW X5 E53 LM* (Non-series/road-legal vehicle).

*A one-off version known as the X5 LM was equipped with the M70 S70B56 V12 engine from the Le Mans winning BMW V12 LMR. It was used by Hans Joachim Stuck to set a lap record at the Nürburgring in 2000.

I know all this already, thanks for the post though

Saurma is indeed a good driver, but Hans is the better one. I am positive that Hans is way quicker then Saurma around Nürburgring.

The difference M5 E60 vs M3 CSL is way bigger then I would have expected, 23 seconds is quite a lot, specially when you think that the M5 has 507 hp, vs the CSL´s 360 hp.

Yes, the CSL is way lighter, but I think it has more to do with the humidity, temperature and so on, not only the weight.

7:52 min for the M5 E60 is fast, very very fast for 4000+ lbs car.

Yes it is.

I'm just surprised there was no news of it besides the listing on that one website.
