Starting out with SNOW from Stockholm late evening around 8.30 PM. Not exactly early for having a 2400+ km roadtrip infront of you...

Visa större karta

We had winteryres with a max speedrating of 240 km/h.

A quick dinner at "Swedish McDonalds" Max, way better than the real thing.

Dirty... Our first fuelstop was at 10:15 PM.

The rearwiper is necesary and useful, just as on the Porsche 911...

Next carwash will be at a US Army base...

In the heart of Germany.

Fuelprice is roughly €1,3 and a bit over €5 per US gallon.

BMW M5 Touring works great in wintertime with wintertyres.

On our way down the BMW M5 Touring is stock but our destination is Supersprint in Italy, near Mantova.

Our next fuelstop was at midnight.

At 1:30 AM where in Denmark.

Where for some reason the Shell V-Power si 100 octane instead of the usual 99 octane we get in Sweden?

Awating the ferry to Germany and Puttgarten from Denmark (Rödby) at 2:17 AM. Good time for a late dinner.

Close to Kassel and Hannover in Northern Germany, with and impresive AVERAGE speed of 177,4 km/h (111 mph) over a distance of 1087 km (680 miles).

Engine level is OK so is service level of brakepads and -oil.

Increasing the average speed to 180,7 km/h (113 mph)...

Time 05:30 AM and we reached the outskirts of our destination and close to Kassel where we decided to take a nap.

Waking up at 11 a.m. we seemd to overslept and needed to get moving!

Meeting up Member RussRamz with his Kelleners Sport BMW M6

We couldn't leave im on the Autobahn!

And now for a very interesting experience: a mini-USA within Germany at a US Army base. We had US fuelprice in gallons and you paid with dollar. 110 V electrical system and also American shopping on electrics. And of course fast food

I have never seen this fastfood chain in Europe.

Pickups for sale!

Mustangs and SUVs!

Let's head for the carwash!

[IMG][/IMG]

RPI ram air intakes on the BMW M6 shining through!

Full leather interiour on the BMW M6.

Getting the car ready for Monte Carlo!

Yes, we where dusted!

Baden-Baden at 5.30 PM...

Hitting the Autobahn richtung Basel!

At 7 P.M we where in Switzerland.

Switzerland is beautiful as always!

Fueling up...

I beleive a redlight is a redlight in Switzerland as well... Time to stop with just seconds until we reach the exit fo the tunnel...

Passenger is a sleep...

Just a few hundred meters until the exit...

And this was the reason. Fire truck! But we didnt see the fire?

At 10 PM o'clock we are starting to worry if we will miss out on the Monte Carlo nightlife...

But at 16 minutes past midnight we arrived at Monte Carlo...

and the casino that is the main revenue generator for the inhabitants of Monaco. Therefore they pay no tax. The casino was just next to our hotel...

...where we where accompanied by a Swiss-registred Bugatti 16:4 Veyron.

The representatives of the hotel told us they much prefeered our car to that of the Veyron when considering the price.

Accompanied by a couple of Ferrari F430 Spider and the obligatory Mercedes Benz S-classe.

The Veyron in broad daylight. The representatives for the hotel asked us to leave the car next to the Bugatti Veyron if we wanted but we rather had it in a garage, as opposed to the Veyron owner.

Hotel Hermitage was built in the begining of the 1900.

Fellow BMW M5 friends from Italy!

Another view of the Herimitage.

Price of a 6 square meter two room apatement with waterview is €2 400 000. Cont on it and with no or very little incometax that could be a good deal.

Norweigan boat company Hydrolift salesoffice in Monte Carlo. Hydrolifts owner si closely affiliated and owns a large stake of Koenigsegg.

Checking out the local BMW Monte Carlo dealer. One Individual BMW M5 for sale with Champagne leather interour.

With a message on the hood.

While we checked out the BMW M5 a local also came and had a look at the BMW 3-series convertible for sale. A VERY close lock. He parked ON the car.

Very French...

From the snowy days and nights of Stockholm Sweden it was a relief to see grapes in the city of Monte Carlo!

No one steals anything in Monte Carlo. Not een your proof of parking, so you can have it outside your Brabus Mercedes V12.

Safe!

Can I get you something for your dog?

Since you wil havve a hard time finding litter and garbage in Monaco it was interesting to find this in front of the Casino. It turned out to be art!

Pullman-stule Mercedes S-classe. And it is also a S600!

Leaving our hotel and the Bugatti Veyron the day after...

Visa större karta

Checking out the yachts.

Next destination: Italy and Supersprint!

You know you're in Monte Carlo when the outside ad display €6000 and upwards Vertu phones, which are (roughly said) very exclusive Nokia phones.

Fueling up in Monte Carlo and the most excusive carcompany at the pumps on this trip: Bentley Arnage T, Aston Martin Vanquish.

Leaving Monte Carlo!

Yes! Italian gas stations! Which means...

Gorgeous food! Made a'la minute!

After a log drive on the Sunday we finally arrived to Supersprint the mornig after.

The Supersprint visit

Starting out with a baseline dyno for comparison when we have added the Supersprint parts.

We need extra weight on the rearwheels for the not so god grip of the wintertyres.

A decent fan!

Base seems like 542 HP uncorrected for temperature.

So let's get to work!

We already new that the BMW M5 Touring differes from the BMW M5 sedans exhaust routing and changes needed to be made. Questions what changes?

Removing the heavy stock exhaust system.

These stabiliserbars are not present on the BMW M5 sedan so the exhaust is routed under these on the M5 Touring.

We decided to change these stabilizerbars in order to use the M5 sedans exhaust routng: less resistance and material, and hopefully less work as well.

Here it is evident that the stock exhaust routing is different from the M5 sedan in order to clear the stablizerbars of the BMW M5 Touring.

These bumps cannot be good for performance and the flow of the exhaustgasses?

BMW M5 only heatshields.

Many protectiveplates as well as aerodynamic aids taken off.

Stock headers off.

There is not much room left to work with here. However, the engine does not need to be moved or lifted up.

SMG module built in Austria.

Assembling the Supersprint headers...

Like large sized pasta... This construction makes the headers alot more flexible both during installation and usage. It is important to be able to utlize as much space as possible when installing these since it is very tight space where you install these.

Supersprint headers vs the stock headers with the secondary catalysts, which are replaced by one catalyst on the Supersprint system. Notice that the Supersprint system are wider and less sharper bends than the original system.

Now we have the specialmade stabilizerbar to be produced for the M5 Touring in order to be able to use the BWM M5 sedans exhaust system.

Decision has been made to make a stablizerbar that clears the exhaustdesign of the BMW M5 sedan. Therefore we need a speciallyshaped stabilizerbar and not a straight one.

Mounted and finished. Significantly stronger than the stock stabilizerbar.

Seems to fit well!

Excellent!

The collector, drivers side.

The collector, passengers side. Yes, there is a very little space!

In place and ready to deliver power the classic way!

In place!

Racecatalysts in place instead of two catalysts. The exhaust system chosed was the least loud, and not the RACE version.

Supersprint X-Pipe in place.

Time for the dyno!

Run one! 576 HP a gain of 34 HP... Run two 579 HP. 37 HP gain!

Let's take it for a spin and lsee how it runs!

We have a long way to drive home to Sweden as well...

Compared the stock with the full Supersprint system.

Torque is way up almost all over the RPM range and especially over 5000 rpm.

Leaving Supersprint Italy at half past eight in the evening (8:30 PM).

A long way to go!

Shiny new exhaust!

Trying to take the "fun road" over the Alpes with an elevation of 1070 m.

Fueling up in Austria at one hour before midnight (11 PM).

And in Southern Germanys Bavaria -home of the Bavarian Motoren Werke_ we hit and indicated 310 km/h on our snowtyres classified for 240 km/h max speed. Not too smart but we just had to. There was plenty of more room to go on top speed. This was midnight.

Fueling up in Germany at quarer apst 4 in the middle of the night (4:15 AM)

Hitting the ferry at Puttgarten to Rödby in Denmark half past five in the morning with an healthy average of 160 km/h (100 mph) over 1300 km (860 miles).

So are we really safely parked here on the ferry?

That car and those exhaust where clean once!

Back in Sweden and time is 11 am and we have 400 km to go!

And a similar report from 2006 butwith the BMW M5 E39: My Supersprint factory visit via Monaco and Ferrari: a 6000 km trip (4000 miles)

The BMW M5 E39 gained 30 HP with the same treatment.

Brilliant report and pictures, G. Thanks, as always. Pictures of base and the cheap gas particularly interesting, though wouldn't want to drive that 3500 Cummins dually down narrow Euro streets. I couldn't get all the pictures to show so never figured out if you managed to get some proper rubber on the Beast. Nice average speeds, that really is hauling *****
