Great trip and great report. On the next trip to South Europe you should make a stop over at Dingolfing to see where the E61 was born and where all M5 and M6 take birth.

I did the Dingolfing Plant tour already twice and the last tour I did attending to the e60.net forum European meeting. That time we did the extended tour and we were invited for lunch by BMW. At the same time we visited the FIZ in Munich as well.
Both places are outstanding and the meeting was a great chance to meet other BMW enthusiast. M5 board member Alex.br was attending at the meeting too and we all had a lot of fun.
The Welt is nice too, is an architecture masterpiece but just a window on BMW world while the others are the heart and the mind.

We also did a similar tour a few years ago but with the BMW M5 E39 (400 HP) via Monaco to Supersprint. Go here to read the old report.
We managed a healthy 180,8 km/h as average speed (112,5 mph) over a distance of 1200 km over 750 miles. Arriving in Monte Carlo we was greeted by a fellow car enthusiast in his Bugatti Veyron. HD video on the Bugatti Veyron here. Monaco is the only place you will find so many luxury yachts, Vertu cellphone walladvertising and Bugatti Veyrons casually parked outside the hotels. HD video on the Bugatti Veyron here.
The results after our Supersprint visit was indeed worth it. A gain of +40 HP gives you this result when comparing to other cars.
