RPM is too high on idle .. warm engine

Hello there ..

I've noticed a lot of people faced unstable RPM while idle ( engine on - car parked ) .. my car most of the time is aroung 900 RPM ...

the dealer said : fuel tank - fuel pump - carbon filter need to be replaced ..

did anyone had this issue before .. you know what . most of M5 and M6 V10 pictures I see on the net ( ebay - m5boad.com - gtboard.com ) the RPM is always higher that normal ...

my car is acting very strange : sometime time RPM is high then after 2 minutes it calms down to 550 RPM i guess .. then again after another 2 minutes it goes up to 900 RPM again ..

thanks in advance for sharing the info's .. happy new year guys ..

Agree, maybe fuel, maybe air flow sensor...what tier fuel are you using ??? What is it's octane rating and does it contain any additives, like Ethanol ?

Think mine idles around 700, but to be honest it hunts all the time when stationary for than a minute between 500 and 1000 so hard to know what the idle speed is! Never really thought about this.....

From what you said it sounds like you just got bad gas.
From what the dealer said it confirms you had bad gas.

Here are the top tier gas companies: Top Tier Gasoline

To know for sure you need to test the gas. Have BMW fix your car and watch out for what gas stations you go to.. also be aware of what additives are in the gas (should say on the pump).
