One License Plate - for Texas

How do we promote and support this proposal that allows car to have only one license plate on the rear so the front plate is not required?

81(R) HB 309 - Introduced version - Bill Text

Similar laws in California
There is even a new law that requires the dealer to install the front license plate bracket. The lack of a front plate is one of many minor equipment violations used to justify a "random" traffic stop

I keep mine in the car and put it on the dash when I park. I once got a ticket for no front plate when I was parked "head in" up against a wall in a public parking structure in beverly hills. These tickets generate a lot of money around here.

I keep mine in the car, and the one time I got stopped, I blamed it on my dealer (which is actually true), showed him there are no holes to mount the front license plate holder to (I had them not drill the holes) and the cop was quite nice about it, and said next time you get by there have them fix it.

I cannot actually see the fuss about having a number plate on the front of the car

Hey you guys are lucky! It's law here, I was ticketed twice on my Maserati for no number plate (it kept falling off because no easy way to attach it!) Also we have a LOT of front facing nazi speed cameras ready to take a photo of the front of your car and send a ticket through the post!

Contact TX car clubs and get the word out. Include contact info for the person sponsoring the bill.

Lone Star Chapter BMW CCA

Most TX law enforcement agencies aren't enforcing the front plate requirement, at least not on high end cars. I haven't been hassled.

At delivery, my salesman couldn't remember any M buyers asking for holes drilled and they don't install unless asked.

I think Cali makes more money off no front plate tickets then they would save in only requiring a rear plate and cutting plate production in half
