On your advise, I'm going to get the rear tires balanced tomorrow morning.

I will update all tomorrow.

See these rings you are all talking about, we usually throw them away over here for any car.
As I said earlier if you tighten up the wheel correctly there is no need for them. All they do is cause hassle.

Ok, I just had all four wheels rebalanced and I still have the wheel shake when driving over 80km.

This might be a stupid question but what is "hub centric" ring a few of you are referring to?

It is the basically an inserted piece of alloy in the shape of a ring that fits inside the back of the wheel.
If you take the wheel off and look at the centre you should see the ring placed inside the hole were it mounts onto the hub. You might want to tap out the cap and use a screwdriver and a hammer to knock it out from the outside of the wheel as they are normally a ***** to get out.
When you do that throw it away, you dont need it.
Just make sure the face of the hub is clean and nothing will prevent the wheel from sitting flush and tighten the bolts the way I mentioned before.

If all of your wheels balanced fine it simply cannot be the wheels, it has to be the way they are mounted.

Wouldn't this piece of alloy be noticed by the installer at the time of mounting and balancing?

Not always, if you watch when they place it on the balancing machine some machines can fit with the ring on, others you need to take it off.
But the point is that either way the 'wheels' are balanced so its fare to say that the issue is elsewhere.

When balancing/spinning the wheels look carefully at the top of the tyre and see if it stays 100% flat. If it jumps up and down a bit, you have to reposition the tyre on the rim until it's gone. Also while looking at the edge of the rim itself, check it doesn't wobble. This is often overlooked as people focus on getting the wheels balanced and the weights positioned. Seen it too many times. You could have non-round rims (even when new from the factory!) and/or tyres.

I will check the new wheels to ensure they too are true round (no wobbles).

Failing all of this I'm going to assume the wrong rotation of the rubber for approx 7,500km has damaged the rubber Sometimes I wonder where the BMW service technicians heads are when doing simple tasks.

every after market replica that i have had will do the exact same thing with out a hub centric.
I put my wifes winters which are replicas and they did the same thing till i put the centrics on this year.
The rim can go alittle off and then you get the wobble.
This was the same with our M3 and the X3.
