to all others: thanks for your congratulations and good wishes. that car is just amazing - i am still breaking it in but it is soooo damn hard to shift around 5000 rpm ... but, so far, i didn't even once exceed the 5500

the new idrive system is just amazing, its damn fast - route calculation seldom takes more than a few seconds. and by few seconds i mean it usually takes <5 sec to calculate any route you wish. you can now add intermediate stops and plan a whole trip which you can also reverse for the way home.

integration of the multimedia stuff is quite well done, too. although there are a few glitches like when you import audio-books and music which are organized in folders to the harddrive it sometimes doesn't manage to start playing where it was when you left the car. it then plays the first folder and doesn't remember where it was in the other folder. especially unsatisfying when listening to audio books.

but that is not too bad after all - hey, it's a new systen and this is the only true error i found up until now. all other minor inconviniences stem from my being used to the old system and having to rethink some things with the new one. i'll give it a few days.

best looking thing is the new fullscreen 3d-map, especially when you are in the mountains - just awesome

stay tuned, i'll keep you posted

What version of iDrive is that? 32+?
sorry for the late answer, just digged that out again. the version of the navigation system is 1.2.4 - obviously they started a new versioning on the new system. seems logical as it is no longer a siemens vdo system. it's from becker now who already did the M-ASK aka navi business.

no matter what version of idrive it means you cant just lend the car to anyone without explaining and showing them how to use it

Very very very nice M5! Please do post pics with normal wheels on, when winter is over.

Did you get normal M5 wheels or M6 wheels?
