M5 - in the hands of a professional race car driver..
Some of you may remember that I've been tracking my car regularly this year. Slowly but surely, my times have been reducing and the lowest I've gotten down to at the Mallala circuit in South Australia is around 1:21's.
I've often wondered how fast the M5 can go on this track. Well, yesterday, it achieved it's fastest lap ever in the hands of a professional race car driver, Luke Youlden (Ford Performance Racing).
He managed a time of 1:19.4 whilst I managed 1:22.0 yesterday. Same car, same setup...vastly different skill levels.
M mode, S5, DSC off, EDC SPORTS, Pirelli Zero Corsa at 40 PSI (hot), -2 degrees camber in the front, -1.5 degrees camber in the rears.
He also drove a 997 Carrera and it got a 1:19.8.
It's nice to know our car is no slouch
Here's some data from my Performance Box for your review:

Re the S6, I think I did set him up on S6 but I was on S5 as the gear change was too aggrssive and unsettled me during one of the high speed sweeper.
He also suggested going slightly higher on the tire pressure so as to minimize tire wall flex. He also thought the car had another 0.5-0.6s in it but he didn't want to push someone elses car too hard.
This guy taught me a lot on lines and car control. Can't wait to go our again!
I love my car
