Family ,

Need your help here : Yesterday I lost my NYS driver`s license ... It sucks .. I already requested another one thry the DMV website .. My main question is if can i drive without the license ? In other words if I get pulled by the cops can they check on their computer or Iam condenmed to not drive the beast until i get the replacement ( the website says up to 4 weeks )

It wont take 4 weeks dont worry...you are not supposed to drive without it...I do on occasion, however I have my ID number memorized, which helps some.

1. drive, but behave and don't get pulled over
2. if you do drive, giving the officer your NYS ID number (above the picture) will allow them to run it through the computer and show if it is indeed valid. If you're polite and weren't doing donuts in the middle of the highway, they probably won't cite you for not having a license on you.

My advice, go with number 1.

Come on you guys. Show some brotherly love for each other. I don't believe there are any stupid questions to ask although it's sometimes inappropriate to ask about something that has been discussed before. I haven't done my search but I doubt that ateles' question has been discussed before. No matter how simple a question is for you people, some people do find it quite difficult to answer it themselves without having to refer to you.

ateles asked a simple question and expected to have a simple & straight-forward feedback without being humiliated. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him asking that. I've seen a lot of simpler questions being asked without having the OP being bashed.

ateles, yes this board is the right place to make friends. Unfortunately, not everyone is as helpful as others and you need to be patient with their feedback and not take things personal unless you reach a stage of being disrespected. Thanks to this board we have professional moderators that put an end / ban people whom aren't showing any respect and cross the red line.

Guys, please take it easy with your posts. Not everyone on this board appreciates harsh opinions. Sometimes if you perceive a thread to be stupid (not that I'm saying this one is) it's better off not to post a negative opinion unless you know the OP won't take it personally.
