So if I understand it correctly, both you and Darren did not have this problem initially, and this developed over time? I assume you have no fault codes or check engine light. One common denominator between you and Darren is that you both have '08 models. I wonder if Dinan has seen this problem with strokers put in '07's and '06's.

I'd be really curious to see what happened if you temporarily went back to stock software.

Here is my history over the last 4 weeks:

1. Picked up car, put it through break-in period by following BMW process
2. Dropped off at dealer for 1200 mile service (oil/fluid change)
3. Picked up car, ran against stock M5 and only pulled 2 cars (day time videos in this thread)
4. Returned to dealer to correct MAF intake installation
5. Picked up car, ran against same stock M5 and pulled 10+ car lengths (it's so far ahead it's difficult to quantify accurately)
6. Within one week after correcting MAF intake installation error, car feels just like a stock M5 again.
7. Lost to my friend in his SL65 (videos posted on youtube)
8. I start data logging looking for anything (timing ******ation issues, air flow issues, etc.)
9. Dyno last week shows car seriously down on power.

Chris' scenario is a little different in that his car has been acting like this from day one I believe since they learned from my MAF intake installation error and got his installed correctly from day one. He only recently got it back from the dealer after going through break-in process and then having it fully customized with all the vorsteiner parts and additional Dinan components (new M6 exhaust mid-section etc.). This weekend represented the first real opportunity for him to run it in a comparison mode aside from the dyno shootout we did together where he was significantly down on power as well last week (although higher than mine).

Thanks,

Darren

This is really causing me to lose some confidence in Dinan.

Sorry to hear what you have been through. Hopefully Dinan would step up and offer something better than just ship the car to us. Maybe Dinan tech can fly to Dallas and troubleshoot them on site. Remember, it not just one but two strokers.

It would be nice to contact other fellow strokers owners. There have been a bunch of them (26?? up til June??) out there and I don't believe just you two experience this problem.

Wish you the best luck and thank you both you and Chris for your feedback.

Dinan TB haunted story all over my head again, but hopefully this time will be a good result at the end.

Kenny

I think Dinan have not looked into this 100% yet and the problem is not solved yet.

Darren,

I met the owner of the stroker M6 that was featured in MLE. His name is Tom and he owns an automotive repair shop/Dinan dealer in the Bay Area. His shop is called Portolla Valley Garage (Portola Valley Garage)

He's not on this forum but maybe you can call him and get his advice. Considering that he owns one of these cars and is a Dinan dealer, he might be able to help you troubleshoot.

Good luck buddy!

Kenny,

I was wondering the same about the throttle bodies as well and I've brought it up 3 times to the dealer. They don't think that could be the culprit.

I wonder how many 2008 cars they've converted and if that could be the issue. Also, Chris has highlighted a good point...we appear to be losing power up top, so could that be valve float? Were the valve springs changed?

Regards,

Darren

Darren, Chris we're really sorry to hear about your power loss. That's a major bummer. Reading your posts make us feel really bad, I can imagine how you guys are feeling at this stage . With the existing warranty & the amount of money you've spent, Dinan without doubt will fix this issue (I hope). Hopefully you get the problem resolved really soon at no additional cost. Wish you the best of luck and please keep us updated

Did you record the Throttle Sensor Position at high RPM? Consistently open? or try to close down a little? That could be a problem with throttle try to close so the car feel bog down at high speed.

wish you best of luck,

What the heck?!?? I'm sorry to hear you guys are having problems.

I don't get why Dinan isn't all over this. If I were in your situation I
would definitely ship it to Dinan. I would have low confidence that the
dealership would figure out the problems. Dinan should be stepping
up and making this process as easy as possible for you guys. I don't
get why you have to ship the car out on your dime but unfortunately
if that's what it takes I think you have to do it.

BTW, perhaps this should be a separate thread. I had no idea you
guys were having problems until it was mentioned in a different thread.
